hi,that problem is not on the red picture tube mostly ,that is caused by a defective convergence IC This is a big IC labeled STK xxxxx .you need to replace them there are two of them found on your TV.Before replacing the IC try to resolder first the pin of the IC there are instances that cold solder create the problem.to access the Convergence board you need to open the bottom cover of your TV look for the convergence board you can easily notice the board This is where the IC are found..if you have any other questions regarding to it just post a comment and i will answer your question good luck .O be careful with the high voltage always unplug your TV before start repairing...

The problem is related to the CRT boards or the CRT itself. More often than not an oscilloscope is required to trouble shoot this problem. Hence this cannot be fixed by the end user. You can use our repair directory to find a tech in your area to help you fix this.

Replace the deflection board. You can get replacement deflection boards from www.tvrepairworld.com

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projeciton sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

• Screen looks 3D
• Colors don't line up
• One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
• Screen is bowed or warped.
• TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

CONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

By blurry, I'm assuming that the 3 colors do not line up and may be bowed on the top and bottom. If this is the case you have bad convergence. Please explain what you mean by distorted. It will help me diagnose your problem. If you mean it looks like 3D, you have a convergence problem. Hello,
This indicates an Automatic Gain Control (AGC) problem often caused by a dried up capacitor. You will probably need a schematic to go much further. This could be a problem in the tuner, IF, or video amplifiers.

The following assumes you are sure the signal source is strong - try a VCR or other local one (channel 3/4, not the RCA jacks).

Most of the time the range of AGC is from 1 to 7 volts. If you can get a decent snow free picture with an external AGC source, then the tuner is probably OK.

This is a common problem on this model. Call in a shop or do it yourself with parts and instructions from www.TvRepairKits.com

Best bet is to replace bulb, many online retailers have bulbs that you can install just do a search for your set. If it doesnt work call a local repair shop to check out the board. Its the cheapest way to go.

Many of these tv have bad flyback # 265409. Also maybe the solder on flyback or fuses around of flyback

you can replace the power board it should get it going

contact switches on front panel board are dirty or bad try cleaning switches with contact cleaner first thy are the ones that turn tv off/on vol- vol+ ch- ch+

That can be one of two items. First would be the small signal board as that has a history with the ITC222 series. The other board could be the deflection board haveing a vertical deflection issue which is shutting down the CRTs and allowing audio to run.

If it does not respond to being turned down and you replaced the crt? The problem has to be on that board; this model used two different versions of that board and both are no longer available.

Information on these sets is hard to come by but I seem to remember there is an IC on that board. If it is there it is identical on all three boards.

As a last ditch way if they all have the same chip I would swap one from one of the other two boards to see if it is the problem.
