I have lost the remote
Try website like Remotes.com to buy an exact remote to the original or very close to the original remote.

I have remote but tv
Try cleaning off the
fount where the sensor is, If that does not work then the IR sensor inside the Tv will need to be replaced around $75 bucks. Other then that you tried other remotes there is not really other
solutions I can provide.

Picture problem
You have the closed captioning turned on to "Text" mode. Turn off the CC and it will go away.

Tv wont turn on
The surge most likely shorted the horizontal output transistor, and with that being shorted, it causes the power supply to "sing" from the increased load it is seeing. Unfortunately, it would probably cost near $100 to repair unless you were able to do it yourself.

Remote will not work
If the oroginal remote has good batteries but neither it nor a properly programmed universal remote will operate the set, then the little "eye" inside the set could have come loose or just stopped working. If the set was banged hard enough or dropped, a small crack could have developed in the board and cut the lines to the remote eye. This is easily fixed but should be handled by an exerienced tech.

Screen problem
That's the text box function of the closed caption decoder. Look for buttons with "CAP", "TEXT","CCD", or "CLOSED CAPTION". Look in menu for same.

TV is chirping
The power supply is cycling in protect mode. Most likely there is something in the set that has gone shorted, or the power supply itself has failed.
Very often the horizontal output transistor, and or the flyback, and or some of the support components are defective. This does not rule out the possibilities of faults in other areas as well. In many instances if there is a scan or high voltage failure, the power supply may also be damaged.
It is impossible to guess at any particular components that could have failed without properly troubleshooting the set.
An experienced technician with the proper service tools, and information should be able to determine the failures in your set and service it.
