Keeps losing connection? charter says no problem
Check / replace the power supply. Also check your cable. If you have access to where the cable comes into your house, try connecting a brand new cable at the box and connecting to the modem. If that solves it, then you need to have the house cabling checked / replaced. If not, then there is most likely a fault with the modem. Do you have any friends with cable Internet you could check out the modem at their house? Maybe swap cable modems with them for a short time to see if the fault travels with the modem. If both work at your friends house and neither work at your house it is is a problem with charter and they need to come out and verify the signal strength if they have not done so. If the problem is intermittent, is it a particular time of day? Cable services theft is a big problem and somebody may be tapping in to the line causing signal loss.
If none of the above helps, post much more information and what you have done to solve the problem.
Best of luck, Jim
Low signal strength, only -89db.
Telephone your Internet Service Provider -- they can "remotely" connect to your cable-modem, and verify the settings, and can boost the signal. After all, you're paying them $$$$ per month; this month, make them "earn" their money from your wallet.
I would like to reset this modem reinstall
In order to get your router back to the original settings, you must push
in the reset button (usually on the back of the router) for somewhere
between 10 and 30 seconds depending on the router. You may need a pin or
something small to push in the button, because it can be recessed. Once
you have reset the router, the username and password will be changed to
the defaults, admin and password, respectively. One thing you must
remember is that resetting the router will change all of the router
settings back to the factory settings. This means you will lose all of
the changes you made since you got the router. Make sure to write down
any things you've changed, so you can change them back after the reset.
Also, I recommend updating to the latest firmware after the reset.
If you need more help post back!
Thumbs and testimonial are welcome!
Pairing Router to Extender.
Hi,
Please double check that each of your products are compatible with each other by either calling Arris or Netgear. You also review the netgear setup instructions after you've made the call if they're compatible.
This is the phone number for Arris: 1-877-466-8646
Thank you.
I have an arris router with suddenlink. i can login but i can't change my ssid because everything's greyed out. how do i fix that?
This can be done -- I've done it to my Arris modem router interface from Suddenlink.Make sure you have your original modem/router login info (typically this is something like admin/admin, or admin/password). You'll need this info in case there is an error and you need to reset your device. If you do this simple step-by-step carefully you won't need to reset and you'll be able to use the password or SSID you prefer with your device. To do this, the page with the grayed out field(s) must have an Apply, Submit, or other button that saves changes on the page.DO NOT TAKE THIS LIGHTLY.IF YOU EDIT THE WRONG GRAYED OUT FIELD YOU MAY NOT BE ABLE TO USE YOUR MODEM/ROUTER.Only do this for Names, SSIDs, Passwords, etc. Do *NOT* do this for other values--things are grayed out for a reason.1. Use Chrome or Firefox.2. Log into your modem/router.3. Right click on the grayed out field (which you want to edit) and select "Inspect" from the small context menu that appears by your mouse cursor.4. A complex looking set of window panes will open.5. The code for the grayed out field you selected will be highlighted in one of those windows panes.6. In that code look for something like:disabled(or)disabled="disabled"7. Click on that little bit of code text.8. Delete only that text:disabled (or)disabled="disabled"9. As soon as you click out of the editor and back onto the page you'll see the gray is gone and you can change the text in the field which is now editable.10. Replace the SSID, password, key phrase, or other information you're trying to change with the information you want there.BE CAREFUL ABOUT SPECIAL CHARACTERS OR SPACES.THEY MAY NOT WORK.11. After you've changed the text to be what you want, tap the Apply or Submit button on that page.12. The page should refresh now and record the new information in the field(s).If everything goes south (perhaps because you used a space or character which wasn't allowed), it's okay. All modem/routers have a reset button.
