If this set is a LCD I would have the backlight circuit checked out by a tech. No user serviceable parts inside this set.

This is going to require opening the unit and taking the DVD unit covers off. If you feel confident and are good with tools and have a good memory (to remember how it all goes back together), you should be able to get the DVDs out. Just remember to be careful inside the unit, go slow and don't force anything. After the DVDs are out and you have the unit back together properly it should be OK if no damage was done to the laser assembly. Good luck.

1) change the batteries
2) make sure nothing is between remote and TV
3) you may need to buy a replacement all for one type remote because this one is broken.

If you DVD player is damaged, and u have external AUDIO\VIDEO inputs.Buy a $59.00 scan DVD player & save yourself a $100 repair bill.
The DVD heads coud be internittan { sometimes it works & sometimes i don't } U could have issues with the country codes that tell your DVD where the DVD CD was made at or where is was recorded.

The safe way to quickly check. UNplug unit from wall. Place a screw driver or any metal blade IN BETWEEN blades and hold for one second or two.NOTE:: the unit is NOT going to be plugged into the wall. U are just discharging any left over electricity that may not kill you, but will hurt if something is holding an electricial charge.
Open unit and look at the circuit that comes in direct contact with A/C input wires. Look for FUSE.Looks like a small glass tube with metal caps on the tips. This fuse could be covered with a plastic cover. What u are trying to do is see if fuse is popped. Replace it.

It could be several problems, I'll share with u a couple. All of them need a tech.[technician]
Your volume control works by adjusting the voltage\current to the speakers. The VOLUME CONTROL could be damaged\fixed at a point [even if you are raising\lowering] at high volume.Sometime the control has a crack ********\********* in such a way that the volume arm won't go past crack[see above] on HIGH volume.
The audio IC could be shorted in high volume. Sometimes the audio IC is PART of a 64 (sixty-four) pin ckt. How do u test for that if u are not a techo'
Let someone take a peek at it.

May be your VIDEO ckt.[circut] OR your h/v [high voltage] If you are not a tech.[technician] u should NOT mess with it. Some of these circuits are VERY dengerious! Have someone look inside for you.

There is a small CAM under the foward\reverse takeup wheel. Like a combination lock, must be set in proper sequence to send a signal to eject or load tape. Panasonic VCR has them also.
Hope that this helps, Buddy
P.S. The motor\rubber assembly MUST be set in such a way that the "end of Rubber band line" reaches a certin point WITHOUT turning any more then neccessary because it wll through the switch off aligement.
The LED that the VHS tape covers when it comes down on top of and covers it will give the same problem when it is " caca ".

Bush DVD142RC 14... • Answered on May 12, 2008

Turn it [the TV] on its RIGHT side......... slowly press the eject button once every second. Pay attention to gears winning [as if something is trying to catch. If that don't work try it on its LEFT side. The gears have to be on one of the sides. If you continue to have the same problem, u need to replac the PLASTIC gear assembly.
