Its sounds to me like your laser in the DVD needs cleaning or the disk you are trying to play is damaged. First you should buy a lens cleaner for your DVD. They are quite cheap.! Then clean the DVD lens.
Try another Pre recorded DVD Film. If this does not work , then maybe your Laser lens is not working. This then is a job for a repair person.

What kind of cable are you using to watch TV, component or coaxial? If you have the option to try either, see if you can try whichever one you haven't yet to see if the sound comes through on the TV portion. Doesn't hurt to try different cables.

When selecting a country, chose Australia not the UK as Australia broadcast in VHF, whereas the UK do not. Then hit the search button and it should pick up the 4 Irish channels, no problem.

If you are using a replacement remote, or a programmable remote, then the remote needs to be programmed correctly for the DVD. You will need to use auto-program.

If instead you are using the original remote, then either the remote is malfunctioning, or more likely there is a problem with the DVD IR sensor, that is separate from the TV one.

There are method of cleaning that can and will take care of most of these problems, what happens over extended use the DVD player lens gets debris and dust on it, Thus you might need to go out to a best buy or radio shack as for a dvd cleaning disc and what you do is load that and it will clean the laser on it.

Now if this does not help in any way then the unit may need to be repaired. But lets not put the wagon in front of the horse just yet.

If the set does not have a DVD in it when it is powered up, it should come up in TV mode by default, otherwise, it needs to be repaired.

HI,. this is a lens assembly fault. the lens is malfunctioning or, it may have stopped reading. this wrong disc code is just a universal warning that is concerning a fault if the main board doesn't receive any data(audio,video) when the disc is inserted.

Due to the integrated status of your unit, this will be a costly repair because, the entire assembly is combined together with the vcr section as well.

You will need to replace the entire assembly to fix this issue. the lens has burned out.

you can confirm my diagnosis by preforming a cleaning of the lens with a cleaning disc. if the unit continues to not read or play a CD after the cleaning, this will confirm my diagnosis.

if there is a scart connection on your bush tv then

you can use your panasonic dvd player on it, trust me

just look all over the remote carefully for an AV button, or failing that press channel up or down whilst the DVD is powered up and playing a disc and you will have solved it

It could be not inputing any number on the timer. Or sometimes hitting the button many times until you get it to zero setting. Or sometimes, the cheat of not setting the time clock of the tv.
