There are many reasons for this fault. If the transistor is leaky, it will overheat. If the winding have a short [horizontal out section of the deflection yoke], the transistor will overheat. If the base pulse width is abnormal, this might happen. You have to find out the exact reason for this. Contact any service technician. It will be the best. Your set need a through checkup. The sound is probably set to the SAP channel (language) and the SAP channel is not active on the program you are watching. Just push the SAP button on the remote. The button might be labelled SAP or LANG. This will return you to the main sound channel which is always active.

My manual for RCA TruFlat TV combo advises....If you forget your password, unplug the TV/VCR/DVD. Press and hold both the VOL up and STOP/EJECT buttons on the front panel while you plug in the TV/VCR/DVD. Release the buttons after approximately 2 seconds. This resets the password.

remove the rear cover to access the main board. now look for the main board, and the amplifier ic. turn on the tv unit for a while and then turn it off again then unplugged. try to touch the amplifier ic, if too hot then it needs replacement which mean some pins get shorted.if you don't know on how it will be done just leave it to a trained tv technician.

Check the fuse at the power supply regulator section.

Open the menu and go in the Sound setting . In there open the submenus and put them this way
- Sound settings: Left&Right Balance should be set to middle; in Left&Right speakers to Internal; If your exact model came with an integrated Subwoofer set it to Internal;
- Sound type to Stereo;
- Sound mode to Normal;
- Surround effect - don't touch
- SAP - untick/disable;
- Automatic sound level - preferably disabled;
- Headphones - don't touch;
- Graphic equalizer - set to Standard in Sound Preset

How long have you had this problem? Have you tried entering the setup menu and doing a channel search? That should help this problem.

Hi, well IF all the "Other" channels are all OK, then most likely you have A: An antenna fault. or B: you have a Tuner fault.
I would suspect the Antenna and/or the Coaxial cable, or maybe even the Signal Amplifier is faulty.
You will have to test these out to see.
But first make sure all connections are Tight and the antenna is making good contact in the socket.
To test you need to use another set, and see if the problem is with the antenna or internal, if when using another set, you find it is the same "Snow', then this proves the fault to the, Antenna, and or cabling & plug.
If NOT, then this proves it to be an internal fault, most likely with the Tuner. In this case it will have to be attended to by a professional. You would need to contact a local or head office of RCA, and ask them for a referral to an authorised service center, when here ask them for a 'Quote" before allowing repairs to proceed.

It sounds like a button is stuck or bad. I would spray some electrical cleaner on the buttons 1st. If that don't work, the switch is probably bad.

these tv's are common to bad solder joints. and there are many. if you do go about resoldering the unit. make sure you use a silver solder alloy 2% or it will not mix well with the junk "elastic" solder the mfg. used

RCA has had issues with there sound in this model. There are some capacitor and resistor modifications that will cure this problem. Your repair shop should have this info.

My advice on your 6 year old computer is that since they are called PARENTAL controls...go ask your dad.

there is three resistors on the crt board that is the board that plugs onto the back of the picture tube they are biger than the others one of them could of gone out of spec that will couse this kind of problem also three transistors on the same board that one could be bad need to check them out. If you do not know much about electronices I would probley take to a shop for repair . Would not want anyone to get hurt. Be sure to unplug tv before you do anything on the inside still even if unpluged could have high voltage in set.

Customer service at RCA stated that you have to simultaneously push the menu button on the TV and the volume down button on the factory issued remote hold for three seconds and the parental should unlock and allow access again.

sound like an odd problem, the only thing I can think of is, have you tried to autoprogram the tv?
