How can I disable the

Hello
Your TVs memory IC has damaged. It is a CMOS [Complimentary Metal Oxide Semiconductor] Memory IC in which stores all the settings status in its memmory cells, as we adjust its controls like tuning, volume, colour, contrast, brightness and everything. It is 8 terminal IC, can be located very near to the main system control IC. Its four terminals at one side will be connected to negative supply rail [earth], one terminal on the other side is connected to positve rail, an other will be connected to seiral data, an other will be to serial clock. Usually one terminal on that side will be left unconnected [free].
If you have a concept of soldering, and some knowledge in electronics, you yoursef can do it. Just resolder it out from the circuit board, go for same tye and number. Insist onf same number, as it is a ctitical component in your TV. Substitute the new one. That is all.
If you wants furhter assistance, feel free to contact me by Fixya. OK.

Wont stay on

Hello,

The power light may be flashing or if you are runing with a series light bulb it may be cycling on and off continuously. There may be a chirping or clicking sound from inside the set. (Note: using too small a series light bulb load during testing for the size of the TV may also result in this condition.)

If there is a low voltage regulator or separate switching supply, it could be cycling on and off if the horizontal output, flyback, or one of its secondary loads were defective.

Does this TV have a separate low voltage regulator and/or switching power supply or is it all part of the flyback circuit? For the following, I assume it is all in one (most common).

Some simple things to try first:

Verify that the main filter capacitor is doing its job. Excessive ripple on the rectified line voltage bus can cause various forms of shutdown behavior. An easy test is to jumper across the capacitor with one of at least equal voltage rating and similar capacitance (make connections with power off!).

Use a Variac, if possible, to bring up the input voltage slowly and see if the TV works at any point without shutting down. If it does, this could be an indication of X-ray protection circuit kicking in, though this will usually latch and keep the set shut off if excessive High Voltage were detected.

TV won't turn on, timer LED flashing

If the TV goes in standby, then it is in protection mode.

Ensure also that the fault is not coming from a faulty receiver box sending
bad signal, check if you get same problem on DVD with no receiver box
connected.

Try first leaving the TV power cord unplugged for some times, let say one hour or so.

The flashing light indicates a diagnostic state called protection.
When the TV goes on protection there are only two possible causes.

1The internal circuits are jammed because of electrostatic charges accumulating on capacitors, or because of a wrong voltage read by the main chip on your monitor controller board. this started the protection circuit.

2 The protection circuit detected a wrong voltage or abroken contact, identified an internal fault and kicked in , starting the flashing light.

If you are in situation one, then the TV will reset just unplugging power cord for one or two hours, sometimes even minutes.

If you are in situation 2 , then there is an internal fault.

If under warranty contact the manufacturer ringing the number on the user manual

LCD/Plasma Electronic Replacement Parts: Plasma & LCD TVs, Appliances |

On LCD Pay particular attention at inverter and power board, power board can be inspected looking for bulged or leaking capacitors, then tested with a multimeter. The inverter is more difficult to test , there is need to read voltages, should be done by a tech. Also the LCD controller board can cause same problem

On Plasma, test Sustain (Ysus/Zsus) / Buffer boards , cables to plasma, digital board and power board.

On Rear Projection : check lamp, lamp ballast, power board, and convergence.

On CRT TVs, check ballast , flyback transformer, CRT, Tuner, Convergence.

No settings memory, turns on by itself?

Sounds like your set has a bad eprom. This is the brain that stores all the settings and sends information to the microprocessor to make things happen. If you do not know how to replace it you should take it to a qualified tech to repair it.

Black and white screen only on DSTV?

RCA video cables handle analog signals. HDMI cables carry digital video signals. You need a converter. If you are using a component video converter, check if you swapped two of the three RCA video cables. (There are some A/V projectors that can do the translation of RCA and HDMI internally. Most TVs do not.) I hope this helps. Cindy Wells (One of my family's TVs used a dongle to condense the analog video signal to a single port, swapping blue and green gave a black and white output, IIRC.)

I have an RCA re20qp80 remote that the mute button doesn't work

Most modern tv remotes are not normally designed to be repaired. You will possibly need to replace it. there are plenty of cheaper after market version that will do the job just as well. Your other option, and yes I know this is a silly answer, when you want to mute the TV is to simply press the volume down button to zero then turn it back up when you want sound.

You need the TV codes not the remote ones. I would use the Remotes code search feature as the Sanyo has allot of codes and you may spend hours going through them. Where is the fuse located on a rca flat screen tv

The fuse on an RCA flat screen TV is typically located on the power supply board near one of its corners. The power supply board is the board with an array of capacitors, resistors, and heat sinks on it . The fuse is a small cylindrical tube with metal caps and is relatively small compared to other components on the board . If you have never seen a circuit board before, finding the fuse may be tricky. You can consult the user manual for your TV if you need help locating the fuse . TV Fuse Replacement Guide: Locating and Replacing Your TV Fuse - PointerClicker.com Replacing the fuse should be done with caution, especially if it is soldered to the board, as errors could lead to costly damage. You can check if the fuse is blown visually or with a multimeter-like tool. If you are unsure about how to replace the fuse, it is best to seek professional help.
