Same problem! Go to EXIT on the remote. A pull down box will come down. It will have several choices. Choose DVD. From there you will see different operations. Choose eject or whatever u have for getting the disc out. Now the DVD screen won't go off. Just hit the "ch" channel button. Yuo are now back in TV mode. I learned by experimenting. Lady techie
My RCA TV has a
Hi.
If the picture is reduced to a band in the middle of the screen, then the alignment is gone. The convergence ICs must be replaced and parts in the circuit must be tested and eventually replaced.
The job cost is about $200.
Some channels have lost their sound. picture is
Hello; I am John at J. D. Electronics, Poland Maine. This problem is very likely caused by SAP selected on your remote control.
Make sure you have selected Stereo or Mono in the audio menu. You can
find all of this in your owners manual ( which you can probably download if you don't have it). Good luck, John
Can not insert vhs tape into player
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Initially, there are only 2 possible reasons why the VHS tape could not
be inserted:
- another tape is inside or a foreign object is blocking the loading
slot;
- the loading mechanism has faulted in mid eject/load position.
Options then are:
- consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if comfortable working with electronics / electro-mechanical components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe practices with electrically powered devices. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, an exploded parts diagram would be a necessity;
- should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to consult with and/or seek the services of an authorized Service Center or a qualified professional.
Offhand if a DIY is being considered, shine a flashlight towards the inside if the loading slot cover would grant even a small opening. While the repair if ever required would not be that difficult, it is extracting the VCR mechanism that would be a major challenge.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

This would be the horizontal
integrated circuit that is failing. Your going to need to take that in for repair, cost $75 bucks plus your part. There is not really much you can do from home to fix this and this is a non user friendly part.

TAPE WENT IN AND TROUBLE TO GET OUT, WHEN OUT,
If you "helped" the tape out in any way, that action most likely caused more damage. When a qualified technician sees an item before "customer induced damage" their job is easier and no "unusual" parts are broken which puts them in a good frame of mind and translates into a repair that you can be happy about.
However, if only the "eject" button was used to get the tape out, this is a fairly common symptom and worth taking to an experienced professional.
American DVD discs will not load and play, but overseas discs will
no the coding would not change from using the dvd's from overseas. the ones that you say are american may not be american and that is most likley the problem. try putting in a dvd that you have had for a long time that you bought here in the states and if that works then the dvds you say are american are the problem.
Need to know what channel my TV needs to be on to watch DVD/VCR
The channel you use depends on how you have the vcr/dvd player wired to it. If you used a co-axial wire, then your tv should be on channel 3. If you used RCA wires, then you will have a button, either on the front of the tv, on the remote, or both that says "input" or "source". Pressing this will change the TV to the rca connectors. Try this and let me know if it helps :)
Recording one cable channel, watching another
initialy this option is posible when we work with separate sets.
When the manufacture build-in a VCR into a TV or a TV to a VCR (applies too) we have a "clone" and funtions are share each other, so this clone only have one tuner and is not able to manage two signals at the same time.
Jail bars in picture on analog cable tv only
this kind of intermittent noise has to be researched in the bench specially because the lines are there and then go out. it can be any component false contact, or solder joins.
DVD went in...and won't come out
Whatever you do, DON'T try ejecting it manually. it can ruin the dvd mechanism. The problem is in the dvd power supply. If you have some soldering skills and are good with a soldering iron(temperature controlled is best) you can resolder all the three-legged regulators on the dvd power supply board(small board to the right front of chassis). Good success, Meder's Tv
