Most RCA TV sets use a four digit code to control the v-chip. The code reset is different depending on the model. Try each number until you find the one that works for you. - Hold down the MENU button on the remote and VOLUME DOWN button on the TV it's self at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
- Hold down the 0 (zero) button on the remote and the VOLUME DOWN button on the TV itself at the same time for at least 4 seconds. The set won't say so, but the lock will be unlocked
- Hold down the MENU button on the front of the TV and the TV button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. 4- Hold down GO BACK button on the remote and MENU button on the front of the TV at the same time for at least 4 seconds.
Hold down EJECT button on the front of the TV set and the MENU button on the remote at the same time for at least 4 seconds. Depending on the model, one of the methods should unlock the V-chip. Now, if desired, you can change the settings on the V-chip by going to the MENU and going to PARENTAL CONTROLS, or on some sets, going to MENU and then going to TV SETUP, then to V-CHIP SET.

You must have its original remote control to unlock the parential lock. If you haven't it with you now, try to buy it or gather it from any of your friends or relatives who owns the same model; just to unlock it. After unlock, you can use universal remote or so.

Just unlock it following any one of the methods described below. Then reset it as your desire. One amoung the following methods will surely unlock your RCA and give you option to do others.

DVD door will not open

Either its loading belt in the DVD mechanism, or its loading motor has damaged. It is common that the loading belt will get loos of break. Loading belt is a small belt fasted between loadin motor to loading gear mechanism. Replace the same first. You have to open your TV and pull out the DVD mechanism outside for repair. If replacement of loading belt doesn't help, loading motror is faulty, and should be replaced. OK.

The faults occurs during lightning strike is not predictable. At present, the power supply inverter section of your RCA ahs damaged. A thorough chekup must be done to detect whether there is any other faults also occured or not during this time. OK.

This is a caption for hearing impaired, grab remote! scroll down to captions, use right arrow 1,2,3,off when the cursor is flashing over the " off " press enter on the remote, that should restore the set. Some remotes have the captions on a separate button.

Hello mw.... This remote does have a "search code" that works for the TV and the DVD mode.
So for the TV you first turn on the TV, then press and hold the TV mode key. While holding the TV mode key also press and hold the OK key. Release both keys and all the mode keys blink twice. Enter 922 by pressing the numeric keys on the remote. The TV mode key blinks twice to indicate a successful entry. Point the remote toward the TV and press play. I had to hold it to make it work. Once the TV turns off press Enter (at the bottom right).
Now I wanted to control the Power button for both the set-top-box (receiver/PVR) and the TV at once. To do this you have to press the STB mode key on the remote. Without releasing the STB mode key, press and hold the OK key. Release both keys and all mode keys blink twice. Enter the programming code 977. The STB mode key blinks twice. For the deconf device, press the applicable mode key (TV, DVD or AUX). The selected mode key blinks twice. You can select all three (TV, DVD or AUX) devices. Press Enter top complete the power switch control programming. The last selected mode key blinks three timesto indicate a successfull entry.

Screen goes black but the sound is still on

If the picture of Your television goes black and the sound is still on, there is a problem inside the unit, the problem is mainly a bad t-con board inside the unit. The t-con board is responsible for the picture settings control of the television. To replace the t-con board get these instruments: a screwdriver, a glove, a cup and a replacement t-con board and please follow the steps below:
- Turn off the television,
- Unplug it from the power outlet, and allow the television rest for about 6 hours, so the high voltage on it will dissipate,
- Then You put on the gloves and unscrew the television open,
- Put all unscrewed screws into the cup in order for them not to get missing,
- Then You locate the t-con board, it is at the top middle of the main board of the television,
- Disconnect it and replace it with a new one,
- Then You reverse the process to reassemble the television back together,
- Plug it to a power outlet and power on the television.

DVD stuck
The mechanical part of the vcr has malfunctioned, or the vcr tape has wrapped itself around the video head and pinch roller. dis-assembly will be required to try and remedy the situation. may not be cost effective for repair.
