Only humming noise from speakers
The humming is probably caused by failing filter capacitors, these are usually quite large, also look for cold solder joints around parts the heat and cool continuously. Please post an update to further troubleshooting, if this doesn't solve the trouble.
I try to turn on and stays on standby
unplug the unit, hold down the power button and plug in this is a reset, I'm not sure if its a soft or hard reset, but it brought mine back on. mine did the same thing. Now it works again!
Took cover off to vaccum out dust, and hooked back
pull the main board out and check the solder joints along the power strip. They tend to go dry, a small soldering iron and 15 minutes you may see it come back to life. Also check all the connections going to that board one may have come off, even the one to the digital board will cause you to have no sound. Also make sure you don't have sound in Stereo mode if you do chances are real good there is a problem on the digital decoder board. Mine had a chip with a chunk out of it.
A few weeks ago i would not get any sound then
Check all you wire connections to speakers and in the back of the receiver. If one is lose especially behind the amp it will create static noise..Did you move it around recently? It might have pulled a wire.Another thing that could cause that is build up of dust on the circuit board..Blow the inside out with a can of compressed air threw the holes in the side..Also check to make sure that in the wall outlet that you have it plugged into that its the only one there because that will also pick up static noise from the other accessories that you have plugged into it.Hope this helps you and have a great day...

System fails to see disk
Hello and welcome to Fixya.
If this happens with all discs then the issue could be that the laser lens is dirty, try running a dvd/cd lens cleaner disk on the machine.
If that doesn't solve the issue there might be a more serious problem with the lens, possibly taking apart the system and cleaning the lens surface yourself with a qtip and alcohol might help.
if that doesn't help the lens or the drive might need to be replaced.
I'd suggest at that point you take it to a repairer. Not to mention that if you are in warranty you shouldn't even open the machine. just get in touch with your dealer.
Good luck.
Left front channel out
Could be the wires the go from the main board to the amp board or bad connection near the speaker jack. Could be many other things also. You could try to reset it:
- Unplug receiver
- plug back in
- push the stadium, then night, then dsp off, then club buttons
No sound speakers are good
May just need solder on the voltage regulators, or may need 2 capicators. If you remove the top cover and bottom panel the reglator run from front to rear in the middle of the receiver. The caps are to the left of the regulators, If they are domed on top they need to be replaced.
Est. for repair $90-$110
The unit display is too dim.
Bad news so please don't rate me on this. The display itself needs to be replaced and the part is nla (no longer available)

Model RT2500/ RT 2500R. Standby button is lit but
I had the same problem. I held down the power button while plugging the unit into the wall and it fired right up. works fine now. You might have to do this a couple of times but mine was fixed on the first try.
My model is the RT2500
I only get audio in stereo mode and sometimes in
Sounds like the it is overheating do to poor ventalation and or there is speaker wires that maybe crossed and or shorting and causing the unit to do this. If everything is fine, then the amp is weakend from old age and wont make it much longer.
No Sound
Maybe the speakers are no good. Have you tried hooking up a different set of speakers?
When i turn on my rca reciever it says check
your speakers may not be phased right, check if the positive lead is hooked up to the positive on the reciever and the negative on the negative side,if thats all right then a speaker may be shot or the reciever is shot...i had an RCA to do that once.
I have the RCA RT2500
the back should have a squared in box around the inputs like dvd vcr sat tv cd, dvd and sat have svideo and component a/v plugs, the vcr just has component rca a/v ports, tv and cd are just for audio, then you also have the option to hook up optical for dvd and sat. just plug your vcr into the vcr box and hook up svideo or the yellow monitor out plug to your tv, hook in the speakers and turn that baby up.
RCA RT2280/RT2250 RECEIVER
If you have speaker wires that have strands, you may be getting a short if one small strand is shorting across the terminals, or a poor connection. Check carefully, perhaps even by disconnecting and reconnecting the wires.
Also check for proper polarity - positive to positive, negative to negative. (unlikely since it just started).
You can also get a new set of wires and check speakers one at a time to see if it goes away. or get another speaker that works and then replace each one with that speaker in turn to see if it resolves it.
Good luck
No Power on rt2580
According the parts list on the model unit your fuse is suppose to be F101,FUSE 6A 125V. Is it possible that you have an undersized fuse?
I don't believe that one amp differents would cause your unit to blow like that but, you never know. More than likely you have a bad component in the power supply or power amp.
Then again, with an average replacement cost of $150 online; it not worth getting too deep into the repairs.
