Try the player on another set---if works there either correct input not selected or a very odd problem in the set---I gather it works with cable etc connected to it?

Sometimes the PS3 automatically outputs it's video and audio signals in composite form. Try going back to your original composite cables and setting your system to output in HDMI. Those options would be under "Display Settings". Hope this helps!

The set is trying to start but it is detecting a problem so it keeps trying. Most likely you have a horizontal or high voltage problem. Hard to say. Have a shop check it out for you. Thanks

Check that you have selected "cable" instead of "antenna" as a signal source and then autoprogram the set. These features can usually be found through the on screen menu using front panel buttons.

try to check your audio video chord check it if it is open. you didnt mention if your tv has video channel (tuner). if your tv video channel is o.k then the problem of your tv is in the video switcher inputs. in this case you need a service technician.

When a TV is showing vertical colored lines, a loose wire cable in the TV might be the cause. If you knock on the back of the TV, the vertical colored lines MAY disappear temporarily. This is a sign that a cable is loose or the T-Con board is faulty.
A black screen could just be a sign that the TV is turned off, although if it is producing sound then you know that's not the case. When your TV has a black screen even when it's on, it's quite possible it could actually be your external device and not your TV.
