Most likely your Y Sustain panel has gone bad. I would have a qualified service center evaluate it to be sure.

Replacing procedure of bulb to projection TVs, are almost the same irrespective of Brand. If you wish to get more details, check this link. Selecting the view option, either to Mosaic / Time slide, can be selected by the drop-down list, at the top left of the display window, will make surf easy. You can also do a search, by type in the brand name/model number/IC used, in the search box at the top right of the display window.

It sounds that the audio output IC overheats. This may happen if the contact between IC and its heat sink became loose. Check it.

that could be the Speakers having an issue or the audio out circuit has an issue, Probably a main board issue

Most likely the lower buffer board " E " needs to be replaced. Right now I'm working on repairing a 42" Samsung plasma HP-R4272. The Service manual for that TV says for trouble shooting for that problem is the lower buffer board " E ".
Best to find the correct Service Manual for your TV over the internet to get the correct part number for replacement. The Service Manual should be less than $20.

I will presume it is a Plasma as indicated here----lines top/bottom or left right are not easy to fix as far as knowing what to replace.

Set has a main board that communicates with the screen and directs information there--can be in one of three general areas:

1. Main Signal board (most likely)

2. Power supply as voltages are critical (less likely)

3. Display panel (the screen unit itself with a defect inside it) the last is least likely but possible.

If you tried hooking each unit up one at a time without the box and they work either a setting on that box is wrong or there is a problem with the box.

There's a good chance you have failing electrolytic capacitors either in the power section or the inverter section or both.
Any caps in these sections that look bulged at the top, or bulged/leaking at the bottom (look for discoloration of the circuit board around the base of the capacitor) need to be replaced.
If you repeatedly turn it off and on, eventually it'll probably stay on, but every time you turn it off, the unit will get harder and harder to start up until one day it just won't.
Sometimes you have to do the opposite to start it up and unplug it for some time and then try again.

If you aren't tech savvy, don't worry, read the rest of this solution and watch the videos.

If you are handy with a soldering iron and can identify the power supply and/or inverter / FM section for the backlights, an inexpensive handful of capacitors will likely fix you right up.
Match the capacitance on the capacitors. Go over voltage if you can, and still have them fit.
IE - it's not a bad idea to replace a 10V cap with a 16V or 25V or even a 50V, but don't replace a 680uF cap with a 500uF or a 1000uF (unless you are SURE it's only doing supply output ripple filtering,
and even then, you should go OVER, not under the uF rating).

Most of the caps that go are 10V 1000uF or 3300uF.

I found some great videos of the procedure (for many Samsungs with the same issue) on youtube.

As you can see, this issue spans plasma TVs, as well as large and small LCD TVs and monitors, amplifiers, computer power supplies and motherboards, and other electronic equipment.
The parts are cheap, and skill required is minimal.
A great parts source is Digi-Key, and you can order the parts online at
They typically cost under a dollar a piece plus a flat shipping rate.
The parts usually arrive one business day later.
If you watch the third video, you will see that even someone with no soldering experience can perform these repairs as demonstrated by the woman in the video.

Yes, more likely to have badly damaged MOSFET and a bunch of related components, and blown fuses on those boards also. The Y and Z board use a lot of power and runs hot, they are the one that failed the most.

Capacitors kit: he can make you a set of caps.
Or, just make sure to use caps with low ESR, 105c, high ripple current and long life rating such as PANASONIC FM or FC series.

A new screen?

Samsung PS42P2S... | Answered on Mar 31, 2011 | 625 views

It seems that it may be over heating. If you are knowledgeable about these things you can take it apart and dust out the insides. That may help. Otherwise one of the system boards are failing. Then you would need to take it to a TV tech to have it tested to figure out exactly which board is failing and have it replaced.

The remote will have a DASH or DOT key to let you enter the digital channel numbers directly,
as in: for digital channel 53.2, you'd enter "5" "3" DASH "2"

To program digital channels into a FAVORITEs list, you'd have to provide the Mfr/model
of the remote control itself...
