Sounds like the linkage check in the engine department and make sure the cable is fastened to the linkage were the transmission is... or simply just make sure there is enough tranny fluid but not to over fill. I forgot to ask is it Manual or Automatic because this refers to automatic. Manual transmission can be a whole different story...
