Good luck as most combo units use odd codes that change from model to model and year to year---I doubt the philips remote is able to program to that set.

None of the combo units will program with a universal remote--codes are changed from model to model and year by year.

For some combos, it will work with one code for both TV and VCR. Brand Emerson is for an example. But with Samsung brand, in most combos there are two seperate codes for two devices integrated in one cabinet. TV section and VCR section is entirely different to each other in function. In Emerson brand mentioned earlier, there is only one system control IC which controls both the devices, and one remote code is enough to control both devices. In Samsung brand there are two system control IC controls these two devices. So for the first type, only one remote is enough to control both devices, but for the second too, only one remote handset can control both, but will have two codes.
The advantage for the second type with two codes is, if one section; say Tv; is defiective, you can service it very easly so it has its intvidual system control IC and code. If VCR is defectve you can set it right like this. But with one system control IC; controls both devices, the repair for intvidual devices inside will be difficult. When we set right one, other will show problems. So Samsung is best, even though it has two codes to operate. OK.

From your description this sounds like a loading sensor problem and will require a tv technician to remedy the situation, I suggest an estimate first before actual work is considered.

For example, one for the TV and one for the VCR. Where codes are shown below as [### ###] the first code operates the first part of the device's name, and the second code operates the second part. All TV sets are working on a 12V power adapter ( transformer ) so ..in general they do not take much power cause are not devices that needs a great voltage or ...Watts .....but ..in stand by mode the used power its more than minimal ...almost nule ...cause in this stage all that is powered is a small device that is infact a switch on device ..that works on infra-red based commands...
so...imagine that the power needed its so small that a similar device can operate with 2 -1,5 battery ...and its the remote controll we all have ...
