The adjustments are if present on this model in a hidden tech menu that is called up----with set on most of these sets with the original remote call the menu up with display 182 or 183---different buttons once in select items and cursors adjust them You might want to GOOGLE to see if you can find a service manual to guide you.

If you make it into tech menu use real care as easy to select and adjust incorrectly---most items in the menu will have a number showing the current setting to which it is a good idea to write down.

There will be a save or "Data" button also

I am going by memory here but have been in that menu before more than a few times.

Projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both. Repair kits with instructions are also avail from www.TvRepairKits.com

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

there are 3 color cathode in your TV red, green, blue cathode. The blue cathode might not working in your set that is why you have a yellow screen.Open the back cover of your TV you can immediately see the 3 cathode lamp at the back.Power up you tv and see whether tha 3 lamps are lit.If one lamp do not light up,check the circuit board where this lamp is connected resolder all the components in this lamp.there is also an individual screen adjustment fo r the lamps it is located at the front pannel and labeled RGB screen...try this frist and let me know how it goes..

You don't have an inverter module in that set. I believe you meant to say convergence module. You cant buy those anymore, they must be repaired to component level.

If your TV looks 3D, warped, or distorted it likely has a convergenge problem.
If however it just looks dull, washed out, redish, or if it looks like objects on the screen have halos the fluid in the lens has soured.
You can search google for parts or you can get the parts with repair instructions from sites such as www.TvRepairKits.com

Yes it is the thing to do since they are so cheap to get and easy to replace. They run between 20 and 30 bucks on the internet. Don't let someone sell you a board you don't need it just the chips.
You can get the chips and instructions at this link. http://www.tvrepairkits.com/.
Replace Both STK ICs big black ICs example STK392-110 also 2 resistors 2.7ohms in same circuit.

Problems like this are caused due to loss of high voltage usually due to a malfunctioning flyback(that powers the CRTs) or a fault in the horizontal/vertical deflection circuit. How good are your electronics/soldering skills?

I had a similar problem with my 42 in Philips LCD HDTV.

Here was the problem. My Power Supply Board had several bad capacitors. I opened my TV (warranty was expired of course) and found four bulged capacitors on the PSB. Many major electronics companies Philips/Magnavox, Sony, Panasonic, and others were sold capacitors that failed in 2-5 years instead of 10-20. The capacitors fail prematurely due to a lack of preservatives. Unfortunately, they were installed in all sorts of devices and cause a wide range of failure problems.

Here are some options for you.

1. Have it fixed by a professional $$$$$$$??????? (Is it under warranty?)

2. Open your TV and find PSB. (The board that the power cord plugs into) Check for faulty caps. If you find some (bulged or leaking) bad caps replace the entire board. The entire board costs around $250 right now because they are in high demand right now. They can be found at tv-part.com but supplies are limited. I would definitely shop around though.

3. Remove and then replace individual faulty caps. This takes some soldering skill.

Caps are inexpensive and if you can take care of it yourself it will save you hundreds.

This may be your problem. If you determine that it might be.

I have a Tip/How TO tutorial on this site that may also help. It gives step by step instructions for replacing caps on PSB #715t2432-2. If this is your board you are in luck. Here is the Link: Fixing the Philips Turns/shuts off on its own problem. I'm working on uploading pictures to help guide people though the process as well. Let me know if I can do anything to help.

Hope this helps and if it does please rate it accordingly. Good luck.
