It is very possible that there are some parts in the power supply that are failing. This can be from voltage regulation, filtering, or noise problems.

Convergence problem?
The convergence anp ICs are usually what go bad in that unit. They are two ICs both are STK392-040 and they are at board location ICZ103 and IZC103 on the Sub Board attached to large heat sinks. You can get replacements with free installation instructions and free on line tech support at the following link.

the HCL473W, HCP4752 are basically the same set same features. The HCL models like the HCP are rear projection. Unfortunately Samsung no longer manufactures the rear projection CRT models they are only available in the DLP rear projection with the closest comparable model currently available for a new replacement would be the HL50A65 which is a 50 Inch 1080P suggested retail 1299.00 If I can help you further please let me know. Also new replacement chassis are available for the HCL4715W.

TRY UNPLUGGING THE T.V. FOR TEN MINUTES. THE TRY THE BUTTON ON THE FRONT OF THE SET. YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO GET AN ORIGINAL REMOTE FOR AROUND $40 .

IF YOU HAVE DOUBLE IMAGES YOU CAN GO IN THE MENU AND TRY TO ADJUST THE CONVERGENCE, OR US THE AUTO JUST. ON SOME SETS IT IS ON THE FRONT. IF IT DOESN'T CORRECT THE PROBLEM THEN IT IS CONVERGENCE. I REPAIR 2-3 A WEEK. WE DO IT IN THE HOUSE, NO NEED TO TAKE THE SET OUT. MAKE SURE THEY REPLACE BOTH CHIP'S AND THAT THEY USE ORIGINAL PARTS, THE GENERICS DON'T HOLD UP. THEY USUALLY LAST 3-5 YEARS DEPENDING ON THE USAGE OF THE SET.

Yes you need to replace both of the convergence amp ICs they are STK392-040 they need to be solderdbut its basic soldering nothing too advanced. You can get new ICs at the following link and they include free instalation instructions with pictures so you can do the repair yourself, and they also have free on line instant messageing when you do the repair in case you have any last minute questions. heres the link.

Who might know the resistor vaues I would need for the convergence board???
The 010. 020 and 040 ICs are interchangeable with the 392-040 ICs being better. The site I posted has origional sanyo ICs you can get them cheaper but when it comes to convergence ICs you end up getting what you pay for if there under 20.00 each they arent sanyos. I dont know of any kits for samsung Hitachi selld kits but they wont have the one your model needs, The convergence resistors are special metal films so most places wont stock them

Check the cable and connections between the TV and your cable line. Make sure the contacts are clean, no bent pins, etc. Try replacing the cable if possible.

multicolored 3d effect is a problem with what is known as convegence... ussally there are two large chips (ic) that blow. gennerally they have to be replaced mabe some fuses and resistors..
