It may be time to replace the DLP chip they sometimes have problems like this as well as small white dots all over the screen, lines, etc. There is also a mirror inside the cabinet that may also need to be cleaned. The picture is pink, that would point more toward the color wheel, and you can see the fan through the vents in the back and you can go from there. It sounds more like the color wheel since you have a picture malfunction.

Its likely to be the color wheel which when fails can do several things: A high pitched whine or what is often described as a fan like sound.Since the set monitors the speed of the wheel if it slows down even a little image may look odd or dark.you can at worst hear a grinding sound and it means segments in the wheel are shattered or missingGood news is it is readily available and many average people can replace it---you tube even has video instructions for most of the Samsung models for this.Only two models were made and Google the model number with Color wheel to locate the one your set uses.

The clue is you hear it with the set off, most likely a transformer or coil in the standby power supply, not unheard of (no pun) for this type of part to actually vibrate hard enough to make a unpleasant sound that can be heard.Troubleshooting consists of finding (listening) the culprit and either replacing the part or in many cases Hot glue applied (some if a small coil or transformer will use super glue on the copper coils) to the exposed wires on the part.

I'm not familiar with your set but sounds very much like its the color wheel at fault, if the picture shows perfectly but just lacks color and your set is a DLP with color wheel I'm 99% sure I'm correct.

remove and inspect the lamp the model indicated uses---you can usually also look from the rear to see if lamp comes on at all---set also prone to bad color wheel--grinding or high pitched fan like sound--it faces the lamp--with lamp removed look to see it is not shattered or missing pieces and that lamp not shattered inside. typical color wheel

The display chip can fail and will cause pixels out or a burnt image--considering cost is about 200 for the part if you can replace it usually better to replace the light engine.

Your part# for the mirror is BP67-00096A. Samsung has them new for $198.73 plus shipping. You might be able to find it cheaper if you google it or know someone that has the same model set that does not work.

Listen closely. The tv should make a high pitch whine as it turns on. If it does wait and see if it tries this a few times. If yes then check the bulb, I have seen cases where the lamp shoves the power connector back into the set. If the tv starts with a grown or heavy vibration noise, then your color wheel may have broken and needs replaced.

Look at turn on to see if lamp fires even for a second.If lamp has not been replaced in 2,000 hrs it is a suspect.If you heard a high pitched whine or fan like noise before the set failed remove the lamp and look where it faces----is the color wheel shattered or missing pieces?

Get DMD board part # and shop for best price.......

I have seen this before; this set has a DMD board/module that is part of the optical light engine, we tossed a number of these sets out at the shop since the board is over 400 wholesale and the light engine which comes with it is over 500 wholesale.The dead giveaway is you have to unplug it, that is always a very bad sign.Let me know if you have questions as I am here to help.

2 most common causes of that sympton would be1. Lamp failure is the most logical culprit BP96-01403a is the lamp number and I recommend only using an OEM replacement2. Color wheel malfunction. Usually when the wheel fails you will hear a very loud motor spinning sound from within the tv. If you havent replaced the bulb in a couple years that would be the most logical cause.

You may have to do a reset in service mode....sorry - don't have the guide but it should be in the usermanual for this model.

Your color projection drives are fried. Usually Red, Green, Blue. Cheaper to replace the set than to replace the drives and have the set re-alligned. Unless you have a TV repair guy in the family or who loves food. :)

Replace the DMD Chip. Very common problem with that model number

Did u ever replace the Ballast board for this tv?No?,that ur tv problems.The Ballast board only job are to ignite the tv projection lamp to make it work.U hearing multiple clicks,lamp never ignite up the Ballast board.
