If color wheel does not run lamp will not fire----with lamp removed have you looked at the wheel----if not running it will cause almost instant shutdown of lamp and the set.If the DMD board is bad time for a new set as it is well over 500 .

Some things to be aware of here--if the color wheel turns too slow set will shut down---if you hear a fan like or high pitched sound it is the wheel.If a uniform blue and dark it is likely the DMD which is the box the wheel connects into and can be purchased by itself (forget that as for about 50 more than it costs you can buy the entire light engine that comes with it)Bottom line: Likely a bad or damaged optical light engine.A photo posted here or somewhere else with a URL location might tell me more.further questions? If the model number indicated here is correct do not remove the screen---usually all that is required is to remove the back cover (picture is darker and somewhat dull looking?) and locate the three large black lens at top of chassis---they are the light source for this model---clean with a lens cloth or a paper towel with glass cleaner sprayed on it.The set (again based on the model number) may have a mirror in the rear upper part but it rarely requires cleaning.Let me know if questions.

If there is lamp ON and there is no picture at all, the DLP drive IC on the main board has damaged. Normally, damage to this IC will also couse to DLP [Digital Light Processor] also may get damaged. A thorough check to your Tv is needed. As it is DLP based one, proper care should be taken to repair this set. If DLP drive has damaged, it will be best o repalce the porcessor board as card basis. Anyway, keep in mind that the circuit for this tV is very complicated, such that even an expereinced service technician will also take time to pinpoint the exact fault point. A very high quality multimeter is needed to measure the voltages at the DLP board. Moreover experience is a must to do work with this TV. As far as lamp il ON, there is no fault to its power supply board. The fault lied in the main board itself. If you are aware in electronics, inform me. I'll assist you firther. Otherwise get this TV repaired by any experienced service parsonal or by the authorised service center for Samsung at your town. Authorised service center will have all sophisticated testing equipements ot do this service and it will be perfect in all respect. OK

This is a fault solution which can be checked and corrected by you assuming that there is no component failure. There is a high possibility that the components over a period of heating and cooling, tend to bring on a problem of dry soldering. So my advice is to check the set for some loose joints that have played on to give you these erratic shut downs or poor performance.

The best way to check for loose connections is to tap lightly when the set is powered on , If there is change while tapping then it seems that there are DRY solder joints. Remove main plug, the covers - with caution of high voltage, check for dry joints, use a good soldering iron to solder all suspected points.

Sometimes the fault occurs when the set warms up, if so you can simulate the heat using a hair dryer on the suspected areas, try with the power supply, distribution, Processor controller, driver controllers on the A/V related sections. Also the use a FREEZE-IT spray can simulate the components to cool and show up the fault.

Based on the above method you must be able to locate the area of fault and solder the sections. Sometimes large IC's- ones with more pins- tend to have drying in some pins and so cause faults related to the IC's protocol. Have a rough idea of looking into the areas to reduce the time of probing.

100% this tv problems it is the tv colors wheel it is defective require replacing.The loud tv buzzing noises sounds are the sounds came from the tv wharp colors wheel it is spinning out control wildly and off of it motor axis and by hitting it to the wall of it steel box holding it.The tv distorted colors pictures are came from out of the reflections of a badly worn out of the tv colors wheel.

I was wondering the same question as I have the same problem with my 42" Samsung Plasma.

This tv have a colors wheel design in it to this tv.The buzzing noises and the colors are all screwed up because the colors wheel is worn out and spinning off of is axis and rubbing it against the wall of it hall of the steal box frame that hold the colors wheel itself.Don't attemp change the colors wheel by ur self,if u have no mechanical skills.Bacause the colors wheel itself sit way back of the tv,have to take out many mechanicals parts,before can come to the colors wheel itself to replace it.Because u will regret it later if u putting the colors wheel itself in wrong.Hire a tv repair person to replace it.

As i know, TV set not support sound from PC input.
If you want here sound and still working with PC, you should use HDMI or DVI input from your PC out. HDMI has support image and sound in one cable. DVI only image without sound. if you use DVI , sound pc should connected to audio in.

Replacing the screen on a 61 Inch TV is a serious and expensive process, My suggestion is look for a cheaper TV, possibly a plasma or LCD with HD. They are pretty cheap now and save tons of space compared to the rear projection TVs.

This is an indication of out-of-regulation in the power supply section. The very common caused of this fault is the leaky electrolytic capacitor in that section. It will drop the supply from normal voltage and will disable the unit.It needs a little warm-up to make itself stable but the symptom will get worst. Sometimes it has a bulged/dome at the top but not all, it is better that you have a capacitor checker/tester to determine its condition. Your unit will back to normal again if the leaky capacitor is isolated.

If you don't have necessary tools and test instruments, and can't do the job yourself, I would advice you to look for a professional to troubleshoot the problem. Don't attempt to work in the power supply if you don't know the safety precaution of handling it, there some stored electricity enough to hurt you with a little mistake only.

Also check if your unit is under warranty /extended warranty, avail it because the manufacturer of your unit will fix it for free. Don't open the back panel, this will void the warranty.

Color wheel is a good possibility. Occassionally a bad lamp cooling fan is the problem.

Out of spec.Ballast unit will do that as well as a faulty lamp.
