Hi, the tv set goes to protection mode because
theres someting wrong in highvoltage circuit
and may be the convergence board the 12 volt circuit
still run that why you have sounds remain..
on the convergence its usely the stk module defect
and the hv circuit have some defective regulator horiz driver transistor; icant do any more from here

1. Test the wall outlet with another device to see if it is good.
2. Check the TV for damage or a detached cable Has the TV been dropped.
3. Some TV's have a power indicator light. If yours does, is it on? If it is off, the TV is not powering up. The problem may be a bad power supply.

verify that you have no image on all inputs. If it remains dark, unplug it and push the power button for about one minute, then plug it back in. See if that resets your TV.

If it remains dark, use a flashlight and angle it against the screen with the TV at a station where you can hear the sound See if you can make out shadows or shapes. If you do, then it is your backlight that has failed.
