True because the constant 12 volt supply is what maintains the settings of radio when it is turned off via the on/off or ignition switch.

I have a pioneer multi cd hooked to a pioneer deh

Connections to the rear of the unit. RCA connectors are for output to amp(if fitted).
Main connector:
Yellow - To be connected to supply that is always "hot" irrespective of ignition position. This is for memory backup. If you cant find the original wire on the car it is recommended that you fit a new one straight from the battery. Be sure to use an inline fuse(15A) as close to the battery as possible. On the harness leading to ignition will be a thick white wire which will ne "always hot". It can be safely wired to this point as well
Red - To be connected to power from ignition. This line should power up and down with ignition operation. Red and yellow can be connected together and then to an "always hot" line. You will be able to use the radio with the ignition off, but forget the radio on and you have a flat battery the next morning.
Black - To earting point or negative of battery.
Blue - To auto antenna relay and/or amp power control. Do not connect directly to auto antenna. Always use a relay. Have a look at the following link if you're not sure about relay wiring : http://www.fixya.com/cars/r5544622-wire_relay
Yellow/black - Equipment using an auto mute function ie handsfree cellphone kit is wired here.
Speaker connections:
White - Front left positive
White/Black - Front left negative
Gray - Front right positive
Gray/black - Front right negative
Green - Rear left positive
Green/black - Rear left negative
Violet - Rear right positive
Violetblack - Rear right negative

The display on my DEH-1100MP is fine at night, but

check that the illum (usually orange)wire is not incorrectly hooked up to acc or perm power as it dims the display for night driving (supposed to be hooked up to your headlight parker switch.)

I've got all the wires connected, like the manual

first of all what vehicle is it, because if it is a 2003 gm or later you might have to run a separate power wire to your red wire on your stereo. but if it isn't a gm. disconnect the wire harness from the back of the radio and make sure you have a constant 12volt to the yellow wire and 12volts on the red wire when you switch the ignition key to on. use a test light or a multimeter for this. you can find either pretty cheap at wally world or an auto-parts store.

I need to remove my Pioneer DEH-1100

hi afetr you have removed the front panel look on either side of the stereo there will be a slot on either side, you will need to purchase "radio keys" for the type of radio you have from a good auto store you can buy them off the shelf, you insert either key into the slots on the sides and then pulling them in slightly pull the radio at the same time ( if you just pull straight you will only pull the key's out so bend them in slightly as you pull ) it should come straight out of the security cage....hope this helped

Deck turns off when i hit a bump in my car

A couple things...but the deck must come out to check. (assuming this is a 12v N.American car) If you cannot remove or you dont know how - take it to a car stero shop. Electrical fires are nasty!
  1. Make sure there are no open wires and connections are tight and taped (badly crimped connectors will hide loose connections)
  2. Make sure the deck is supported in the back-it should not wiggle around.
  3. There should be a wire firmly connected to the chassis of the car and the back chassis of the deck - Please do not drill into the deck - use an existing bolt !
