You have to isolate yellow-black cabel. This cabel was in contact with earth and it was the reason, why you have Mute on the display.

On your Alero, the 12V constant wire is ORANGE and should connect to the YELLOW wire coming from the DEH-2300 wiring harness. 12V switched on your Alero is YELLOW and should be connected to RED coming from the DEH-2300.

Some radios do not have that wire and will always be illuminated.

1. You need to remove the frame of the cd player. There is a hole in the left bottom corner of the frame.
There is a release pin.
2. The stereo must be detached via extraction keys or you can use something similar to push the side pins that hold the stereo.

Using factory brackets on aftermarket units is always the best way to mount them as it is extremely secure. It is worth pulling it out and using it most aftermarket units have holes to match most main brands of car.

make sure the speker wire is not touching the metal tape the connection very well.

does this unit have a reset button in back of faceplate?? if not disconnect power supply for a minute and re- connect that should reset to default...///..
