I have a TI-83 (not plus), and everything was functioning well -- no problems up until now.
I cleared the memory since there was a lot of unneccessary junk, but now, my calculator will not even turn on.
I've attempted to do the "Hold down Clear while re-installing new battery, then pressing Clear and On at the same time," but it still does not turn on.
Please help. Thanks!!
Remove one of the AAA batteries. Press and hold the DEL key. While holding DEL, reinsert the AAA battery and then turn the calculator on. The calculator should display "Waiting...Please install calculator software now". Follow the instructions for the TI-83 family or TI-84 Plus family to reinstall the calculator operating system.

How do I convert .1111111111 (or any other decimal) to a fraction?
Hello,
In addition to 1/2 =0.5, 1/3=0.33333333 , 1/4=0.25, 1/5=0.20 , 1/6=0.66666666666, 1/8= 0.125, 1/10 =0.1, there are two decimal numbers that are worth remembering because they are so easy to remember. These are
1/9 =0.111111111111111111111 ...
1/11 =0.099999999999999999999 .....
Your fraction is therefore equal to 1/9
I skimmed the whole manual but could not find a way to convert a decimal number to a fraction on the calculator. There are however two functions, one to extract the integer part [g][INTG], and the other [g][FRAC] to extract the fractiona part of a number.
Sorry. Hope it helps.

I used to have 4 decimal places and someone I now only have 1 decimal place to the right of the decimal point, and I'm not sure how to reset... thanks.
I found this solution on the HP website. Turn it on, and do what it says. Then turn it off and back on again, and the extra decimal places should show.

can I use the HP 12c to figure out square roots of numbers
Absolutely. The square-root function is the blue g-shifted function of the y^x key, 2nd row, leftmost column.
As an example, to calculate the square root of 5, press 5 g [square-root].

Somehow the display on my hp12c went into "scientific notation" and will not come out of scientific notation. Any ideas how to go back into non-scientific notation? The manual is mum on it...
Hello,
To exit the scientific display format press the [f] key followed by the number of decimal digits you want.
Hope it helps.

The zero key on my HP12c sometimes does not work. Typically it will work if I whale on it, but it is a pain.. Maybe I can try to take it apart and blow air into it or something? What causes keys to stick of become less sensitive? It seems a shame to trash the calculator over such a simple issue..
This may sound ridiculously easy - but, my number 1 key didn't work unless I pressed it very hard. This was true for YEARS. I read about opening the calculator and cleaning it, which sounded awful. I simply blew very hard into the calculator on that button and it works now. Maybe I blew away some dirt/ dust that was stuck under the number. Try this before opening your calculator and save yourself time and headaches!
