Toshiba D-VR4 DVD Recorder/VCR - Page 3 Questions & Answers
Dvd recorder will not turn
These devices are usually protected at the circuit board and power supply level by fusible links- small resistors, that act like fuses when spikes hit the device from line voltage fluctuations. You could also have a faulty power switch, or bad power supply.
The unit will have to be troubleshot, and tv or computer shop should be able to do it. Get an estimate first, but it will probably be cheaper than buying a new one.
Good luck, and hope this helps.

The fault is in the processing of the CHROMA section- processing of the chroma in the composite signal which has developed a snag.
This is purely a possible fault in the Y/Chroma processor IC and only a replacement could be a solution.
You can try to see if the crystal oscillator to the chroma IC is malfunctioning, it can be re-soldered or replaced to confirm.
Replacing the IC must be done only if you competent otherwise take consensus.

you need to finalize the disc or "make compatable" or "close session". basically the disc needs to be finished off to be able to play on any dvd player. dvd-r will normally play on any player as it is the standard format dvd discs. dvd+r/rw discs do not need to be finalized, but don't play on all machines.
Toshiba D-VR4 DVD recorder/VCR player
you can get the cleaning disc at any electronic store or even at some other stores like drug stores and even at the dollar store , but if the laser lens is probably to dirty to even see that disc if your player will not even read a music disc, have you tried a music disc? can it read it ? if so the cleaning disc will work.
if not then taking the player apart and manually cleaning the lens will be required

I have a combination flat
Hello. It is indeed disappointing. If you have a way of taking this tv into the shop, your bill will be significantly less. Call a few repair shops and get estimates, at least that way you will be making your best, educated decision. There is nothing you can do yourself to fix this problem as it is within the electronics, and possibly the tube itself. That said, if the cost is over $150. you should also consider a replacement as the cost on these flat screen combo units has gone down significantly, especially at the box stores like Costco and BJ's. regards, J.
Dubbing vhs to dvd
I have a toshiba dvd/vcr vr610 And I don't know how to dubb.I don't have the manual
Cannot record anything
Hi,
Have you tried to unplug and plug in the Device after few minutes, say 30 minutes? If not, try it.
It is quite a common problem with this model, you can try a clean on the lens, you can use a DVD cleaning kit which you can buy from Radio Shack or similar or you can clean manually.
To clean manually unplug from wall and leave two minutes.Remove cover identify the lens as a small round glass lens in the DVD tray assembly.Clean with the glass lens with a cotton bud or similar, use a small amount of isopropyl alcohol or do the clean dry, any other cleaning product could damage the unit.Remove any foreign objects in the unit.Reassemble and test
If no luck then you will need a new laser assembly I'm afraid.
As the time progresses, you might see more and more DVD's or CD's would respond the same way.
Let me know, if needed further assistance.
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
I have a toshiba D-VR18DTKB
The only problems that you might have are Macrovision copy protection Video cassettes with a combo unit the integral DVD will know that the signal coming from the original video tape contains a special type of
noise that the VCR cannot handle. This noise signal confuses a component, known as an
automatic gain control. The TV is not effected by this signal so you will always see the TV.
I suggest you try this website
http://tv.manualsonline.com/ to download your manual to check that you have all the correct cables connected to the correct sockets.
Incorrect disc
Some machines work with -R some with +R. My suggestion is to try a + or - R RW which is rewritable. If you screw it up, no harm done because you can always reformat it and start over again. Don't forget to format the rewritable at the start.
