This is a problem with the solder joints on the convergence ic's. (
stk392-110 ). These are mounted on a large heat sink. If you are handy with a pencil soldering iron then you will save about $200.00 from a service company. It's not a difficult job, just a little patience and time. They are noted to go bad quite often so if your going that far then it might be a good idea just to put two new ones in. The number I gave you is what you will order. (2).

Where can I buy an STR-4525 transistor for my
That is a drawing number for the IC itself. I will need the model of the TV and the location number for that IC to be able to look up the Toshiba part number. The location number will be silk screened onto the pc board where it came from.

Toshiba TP55G60 shuts down and red light blinks
Check the powersupply for loose solder conncetions. Especially in the protect circuit.
There is a white waffer looking IC that has been known for the pins to pop open from the
high frequency output of the power supply.
The Powersupply is on the right side and pretty easy to tell. Please use caution when
working on this set because the caps in the powersupply can hold a good charge. If you have any doubts about doing it yourself, call a professional and hopefully the pain in the pocket won't overcome the pain threshold.
Good Luck,

SCREEN BROKEN
Did you ever find a screen for your Toshiba?? I need one also. Thanks
TOSHIBA TP4688 Rear Proj. TV
Hi, the relay is getting a command to shut down because there is a short somewhere in the set, if you have a volt meter you can check the "chemical fuses" to see which one(s) are open and that will tell me which circuit has the short in it. be advised these are not glass fuses so if your unfamiliar with what a chemical fuse looks like you will have to look on the power supply board for a small rectangular body device with a designation printed on the board "Fxxx". check these and let me know which ones you have failed and we can go from there, BMW Rider

You have a bad Capacitor. Look real good at the capacitors in the video circuits for signs of swelling or leakage. You may need a ESR meter if you cant find the faulty one by sight. An ESR meter will allow you to find bad caps in circuit.

There could be a dust issue inside the set, or the flyback transformer, HI voltage distribution,2nd anode leads, deflection yolks could be going bad. Hard call without looking where the noise is comming from. If you know about the safety issues involved with TV repair, you should be able mto find the problem, but you have to know where to look an know where not to touch. if you have no TV exeperience, please contact a trained tech to searce this out for you, because the bite the HIGH voltage will give you, can make a grown man cry! Good Luck

Low sound
Your set should have a separete stereo amplifier board ,follow the wires from the speakers and it should take you to it,tap on this board and see if the sound changes if not try taping on the main board, dont over do it and do not use anything metal use the plastic handle of a screwdriver,it should not take too much to make it react then you know you have a loose conection,if you are familiar with tv service this should help but if you are not too familiar be safe and call for help.If you dont have loose conections at the audio output the voltages will have to be checked.
