Hi,

Yes, the screen can be replaced. The screen is comprised of 3 screens. The Fresnal Screen (inner screen), Lenticular Screen (middle screen), and the Protective Screen (outer screen). Please see below for links to these items.

Need all 3 to complete screen assembly. The only screen that is still available is the innermost screen, which is probably not the 1 you need. You will only be able to find the middle (lenticular) and outer (protective) screens from a distributor that has them in stock as no one will be able to order them from the manufacturer.

  1. Fresnal Screen
  2. Lenticular Screen (no longer available)
  3. Protective Screen (no longer available)

Hello waylongross,

This might be an indication that your voltage tripler have gone bad. You will have to use a HV probe to measure the voltage on the anodes of your Red Green and Blue CRTs to see if there is HV present. Then you will have to measure the voltage off of the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer) to see if it is delivering the proper voltage to the voltage tripler. If there is not HV at the IHVT then you will have to check the HV and Horizontal Circuits for a problem.

If you do not have the equipment for these checks I would advise that you take the TV to a qualified TV repair shop or have a technician come to you place to check the TV.

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

A speaker wire on my Toshiba 43A10 rear projection tv came loose when I wanted to replace the speaker, it fell onto the cuircut board and made a short, tv switches on but no pictute or sound

set has a number of pico fuses (up to 7) that are not glass and look like a small resistor and are usually orange, green in color--all will have marked on top of board amperage which is a easy way to find them--have to test them like any fuse (set unplugged please) as they will look perfect even when bad.

I have a toshiba tv

While percussive maintenance works in the short term, it's going to be time to fix it sooner or later.
I would specifically check for cold solder joints on the power board.
Touching up the solder connections even if they don't look bad may provide the answer.
Try moving the cables or tapping the boards while it's on with an insulated instrument (I use a sharpie plastic marker myself) until you zone in on what board and eventually what connector/cable/component is causing the issue.
When in doubt, if you at least locate the board with the problem, SOLDER EVERYTHING.
if you actually locate the issue though, just solder the area that needs it.

Picture appears to be 3d

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.
This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
•Screen looks 3D
•Colors don't line up
•One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
•Screen is bowed or warped.
•TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.

Here are some photos of convergence problems

Have a model 43A10 toshiba tv, has a purple color

you either have a color purity problem or a convergence problem. purity can be effected by electro magnets in power supplys of audio amps and subwoofers too close to the tv

Convergence is the ability of the red green blue to drop on top of each other. can usally be adjusted via remote control. Please claify and repost.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.
