Toshiba TV Model 27AF43
You should be able to get into the inputs by going to channel 2 then hit the down button and it should go to the other inputs, keep clicking the down button tell you get to where you want to be...this may not work but about half the time it does.
The menu keeps on blinking can't get to stop with the remote
you have two options:a) try with the menu directly in the TVB) IF YOU can not do it with the remote, change the batteries, and clean the contacts batteriesc) open the remote control, and clean the KEYPADS very well, from oxide, corrosion, dirty. The Syscom emite I.R very clean.Try it. Otherwise repair or replace the r. control or go to the repair shop for fix it.God bless you
White lines at top of TV
I had the same problem with horizontal white lines about 4 inches at the top of my 5 year old 27AF43 Toshiba. Solution, I found by google was to replace C407 but no directions. Here is how I did it.
First is to locate a new polarized 100uf 35V capacitor. I was able to buy 5 of these at a local electronic parts store for $2.50.
Next is to open up the TV. Turn off the TV and unplug all wires, place TV screen side down, remove the seven large screws, three on each side and seventh a couple of inches up from the bottom and about nine inches in from side. Then remove the two small screws in the area where the cables plug in. Gently lift off the back cover.
Put a large magazine or newspaper over the bottom part of the picture tube to protect if from scratches.
Next is to pull out the cicuit board at the bottom of the TV, it's the only one. Clip the cable ties holding some of the wires to give more freedom of movement and then gently pull up on the board. It doesn't need any fidling with clips or tabs or such, just pull straight up. You don't need to disconnect any wires.
Then locate capacitor C407. It is black and marked on the cicuit board and is 3 1/2 inches in from the edge and right by the corner of a heat sink. It will have 100uf 35V written on it. Note which side is the negative (this is important). It will be the same side as the other capacitors close to C407.
Next is to replace C407. Take some measurements from the edges of the cicuit board so you can locate C407 (from the bottom) and then flip the board over and locate C407's leads. Draw a circle around its leads with a felt pen. Us a fine tipped soldering iron and a solder ****** to remove the solder. Be careful with this. Might take a couple of goes but eventually you will beable to wiggle C407 and it will come out.
Put the new capacitor in and make sure the negative is on the correct side (this is important). Solder the two leads and be very careful the solder doesn't bridge between the two leads. Let it cool for a few minutes then use a pair of side cutters to cut off the excess leads.
Slide the circuit board back and push gently down until it snaps into position.
Remove the protective magazine or newspaper.
Use a couple of new cable ties to replace the ones you cut.
Replace the back cover being careful that the power cord is positoned correctly into its little notch. Replace the two small screws and the seven large ones.
Reattach the cables. Cross your fingers and turn on the TV. With luck your white lines will be gone.
Good luck

Toshiba TV picture has become single horizontal line in middle
this problem is caused by a faulty ir of cap's . First is c408 on the board it is a 100uf @ 35v i replaced with same uf and @ 50v , Second is a 2.2uf @250v and is c410 on the board replace both and your off to the races.
BEWARE OF HIGH VOLTAGE EVEN IF UNPLUGGED

I lost the remote how to get to the input
Try website like Remotes.com to buy an original remote.Tries video button on the tv front manual for video input 1 or 2.Or press the manual button channel + - couple times to enter input. If,no video button.
I have run the cables to the stero. how do i get
You can ONLY get sound OUT of a TV if it has a Video/Audio "Monitor" port. OR sometimes you can use the "Head/EarPhone port. As a matter of course NO sound is available OUT from a TV. Unless specially adapted.
How do I switch to VIDEO 1? Directions for a new
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
To your query "...
How do I switch to VIDEO 1?..." on a Toshiba 27AF43, press the
TV/VIDEO button on the Toshiba's remote a couple of times to cycle through the choices until VIDEO 1 is displayed.
The above would hold true if the Pioneer DV-410V is connected using yellow, white & red RCA to RCA cable from its VIDEO and AUDIO OUT to the Toshiba's IN VIDEO & L/MONO-AUDIO-R of VIDEO1. Please reference below images.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
Will not power on
Read below and decide if you want to tackle the problem yourself if so I’ll help along the way with what info I have. If not contact the nearest repair shop armed with the info below.
A dead set (no picture no sound) can indicate any number of problems – Usually the set is in shutdown or protection mode – this means that the internal circuits have detected a problem with a supply voltage missing, drawing too much current, going over voltage or a short condition.
The first thing to do is power off the set unplug it for 5min. than replug and try again. This in effect resets the main micro and will sometime unlatch a fault and resume working. There are certain common problems based on the make model – for instance convergence output IC’s(CRT projection TV’s) can cause a dead set symptom in many models. Vertical output IC failure can also cause the same symptom (CRT standard and Projection).
The only way to determine the real cause is :
By an educated guess based on experience or by directly troubleshooting the set – checking fuses, measuring voltages and checking for shorts. Many of the intermittent problems such as, int.(Intermittent) no sound or picture, int. picture shrunken or misshaped. These problems are generally due to cold (bad) solder joints (all TV’s and electronics) that break down under slight temperature changes or vibration and are usually verified by physically tapping the suspected area on the circuit board, or by quickly heating or cooling a suspected component or area ( cold spray and hot air gun). The other main culprit is leaky or dried out capacitors or capacitors that change value depending on temperature. These can sometimes be seen as bulged or leaky and have an acrid odour.
I horizontal scan lines on the top of the screen.
Hi and welcome to FixYa,
Offhand, you description would indicate an about to fail component in the vertical deflection circuitry; to be more specific the pump-up capacitor. A most likely possibility is that the capacitor have started to dry up or leaking and therefore would require replacement. This would be
C407, a 100uF / 35V electrolytic capacitor. Please note that this component has a polarity and the replacement must be soldered back in in a similar orientation.
Since the unit is open, might as well check conditions of C406, C408 and C409 (
unlikely but worth the efforts).
Options then are:
- consider a DIY (do-it-yourself) repair if and only if very familiar with electronic components & circuitry, use of a DVM/VOM, a soldering iron/station and safe working practices with high voltages. Access to a Service Manual or at the very least, a schematic diagram would be a necessity;
- should you be uncomfortable with a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of an authorized Toshiba Service Center (specially if still under some form of extended warranty) or a qualified professional.
Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
White lines on the top 2 inches of screen there
You Probably have some failing Electrolytic Capacitors in the Vertical circuit. it will only get worse and can cause the circuit to fail
all together if not fixed. Unless you are Electronically Savvy and know you way around TV circuits do not attempt to repair. Call a professional.

Horizontal lines
it is due to electrolytic capacitor failure in vertical output section.
just get it replaced.
it very very common & minor problem.
good luck.
Problem with screen on TV
does it roll on normal tv viewing?
This is what we call a vertical fault. I don't believe it was because of what happened but U never know. The vertical IC or a faulty cap can also cause this problem. If it rolls on your regular tv programs then it is a fault in the vertical section of the TV
