Colors

Hi,
Here is a couple of ideas, hope they help...Move any big speakers away from set, if there be any close by.
Also you will need to borrow a degaussing coil from someone, get them to explain to you and show you how to degauss a tv with the colors out of purity. Also, you may have a bad degaussing circuit in the tv...but definetly make sure no big magnetic speakers are in the same area or close to your tv. Hope this helps.
Another problem which would require someone knowledgeable of it, is a problem in the convergence circuit...depending on what brand of tv you have and how new it is...this problem causes an outline or color shadows around people and or objects.....the first problem above causes impurity or splotches of color in the video or picture.

One speaker has stopped working

It could be the cable connecting to the speaker, or the speaker itself. Try taking the cable that's connected to the left speaker and connecting it to the right speaker. If it works, the cable connected to your right speaker is defective, if it doesn't work - your speaker is.

Toshiba TV

try to open the control and clean it... when you clean it you have to remove the battery, then with some cotton, moist it a bit with alcohol and try to clean all the contacts... after that, let it dry for about 10 mins or more..depends on how wet it is, so dont soak the cotton too much in alcohol.

then put everything back together and i hope it gets fixed..

Brightness

The adjustment is on the transformer = it is labeled "screen"
for screen voltage. If the tv is working normally, you should not
have to adjust at all.My recommendation is to get the tv fixed,
not "mask" the problem with the screen adjust. The brightness
limiter circuit is suspect or the transformer itself. Any product
that has an electric AC cord attached is potentially dangerous
not to mention the physical removal / reinstall of the back.....T.

Please rate this solution....................

Won't turn on or off - red light blinking

This sounds like a power supply problem, visually check the fuses and if they look ok, and you have a backgroud in electronics test to see if the set is prducing Dc voltage, you will need a multimeter and a schematic to do this with. However, if you do not have a background in electronics please take the set to a qualifide TV repair shop to have the repairs done.

I hope this helps.

Thank you,

Power surge I think

If you do not get any clicking or sound when trying to turn on the TV set, most likely the main fuse went out. This is almost always due to something else blowing out along or making the fuse to blow out. DO NOT SIMPLY REPLCE THE BLOWN FUSE! If there is other shorts inside the set, and you replace the blown fuse, you can cause more damage to the TV set. The best way to test this set if the fuse is blown would be to hook up a 100 to 150 watt light bulb across the blown fuse, and if there is a short in the TV set the light bulb will glow bright and stay bright. If the bulb lights up and goes dim maybe just maybe you got luck so replace the fuse and see what happens. If the light bulkb stays bright, there is a short in the set somewhere and if you do not have a service manual and a good multimeter and a knowledge of how the TV power supply works, you really should call in a pro to assist you in the repair of this TV. there is just too much High Voltage inside these TV sets to be experieenting around inside of it. Good Luck.

Toshiba 36A43 36" turning off and jumping on certain shows/commercials

I need to know a bit more. Does to sound give any noises when the picture is jumping? Reason is this would suggest the high voltage breaking down, which could be caused by dust or very high humidity, so check the location of the set. If dust has collected inside you need to clean it out with a long artists brush, but beware if you do not know about high voltage danger. Dust can also cause overheating and shutdown. Is it only the satelite box which causes trouble? If so then you may need to alter (attenuate) the input level of the Video signal. Could you contact the dealers?

Sounds like you have a power regulator problem, a horizontal width problwm or a pincussion problem.. Im betting on the power regulator IC as i have seen it a hundred times.. This should only be repaired by a quilified technician and should run you in the area of 150 to 200 bucks if this is the only problem Good Luck

Toshiba TV Keeps shutting itself Off.

If you're NOT still under warranty you should at least open the TV and look for a blown fuse near where the power cable enters the set. A lot of times you can buy replacement fuses at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace. Check the fuse. If it is blown, it will be obvious and make sure that the set is unplugged before replacing it. If it blows again, or if it is not blown, your problem is probably in the 'X' volt regulator and you will need professional help with the repairs. You can also check the board where the components are mounted and resoled any that look bad. Brief power outages may cause the TV to turn off on its own. If you are using a surge protector, try connecting the set directly to the wall outlet. In your case it could caused by a blown fuse, a leaky diodes or a bad solder joint at the horizontal drive transformer. All can be replaced at a local electronic or hardware store and they're easy to replace If this does not correct the problem, you may need to have your TV serviced. good luck!

Toshiba 42RV500E sound issue

This is a known issue with this TV. The following might resolve it: Check Mute and Volume: Ensure that the TV is not muted and that the volume is set appropriately. Sometimes accidental button presses can lead to muted sound or low volume. Inspect External Speakers: If you're using external speakers, verify their connections. Loose cables or faulty speakers can cause sound issues. Test Different Inputs: Connect a non-HDMI device (such as a DVD player) to the TV. Observe if the sound distortion occurs. If it doesn't, the problem might be related to the HDMI signal from your Virgin box. HDMI Troubleshooting: If the issue persists with the DVD player over HDMI, consider the following: HDMI Cable: Check the HDMI cable for damage or loose connections. Virgin Signal: Contact Virgin to inspect the signal/lines and replace the box if necessary. Mainboard Replacement (if needed): If the sound distortion persists, it could be due to a faulty sound processor chip on the TV's mainboard. In this case, consider replacing the mainboard.
