The power cord for this model (MW20F51) appears to be permanently connected to the unit as on (the bottom of) p.11 of the manual, which you can find here http://support.toshiba.com/support/modelHome?freeText=2841937 Simply pug the other of this lead into a mains point at the wall. It may be helpful for you read the manual before you do this, because it contains the set up information. Check its settings. Get into its menu, and select picture settings. Set the color system to 'Auto' there. If wrong setting is done there, only B/W picture will be displayed.

The disc loading mechanism to your combo is faulty. To repair it, you have to disassemble the whole unit. It is a skilled work. Seek tech support.

May just not be good enough antenna to receive the signal--try to with the remote direct enter a channel you expect to see and if it works you can in the menu add that to the memory---manually enter and add each possible channel.

Hi, try this:-
1/ VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the ZERO key on the REMOTE control.
OR
2/ VOLUME DOWN on the TV set and the FOUR key on the REMOTE until the message “Initialize5 Complete” appears on the TV screen.

I can't guarantee that this will work , but give it a go and let me know.

Converter box for what?

The key is that you are on Directv. So the answer is no. You can't even use the converter boxes with Directv. They are only for watching programs using regular TV antennas.

FYI, based on the online manual, this model TV does NOT have an ATSC tuner built in, even though it has digital audio out. It's only NTSC.
