Try this. It might work or it might not

1. Open the tray
2. press the following sequence using the number keys: 98790 (this is equivalent to the code 9879 with the zero at the end representing all regions)
3. Press Close Tray - there should be a sign on the TV screen saying something like 'Region set to 0'
4. Turn off the DVD player for 5 seconds
5. Turn on the DVD player.

You will have to disassemble the unit to get access to and remove the stuck tape. Keep track of the disassembly process for reassembly with no parts left over.

Use code search on the URC to find something that works. If a search through all codes stored in your One for All fails, try a different URC. All URCs do not contain all possible codes.

The trouble with the video cassette recorder is it is full of rubber components - belts and wheels that don't age well, though it is doubtful that is the only problem.

Capacitors too, often don't age well, especially if the unit could have been subjected to high summer temperatures or freezing winter temperatures but again that probably wouldn't render the machine completely unresponsive.

It should be possible to remove the top cover of a front loader and turn the mechanism by hand to remove the tape but putting it back into working order should be left to a professional. There is often an internal fuse and it could be worth checking that...

Those blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times.
