Sony VPL PX11 Multimedia Projector Questions & Answers
Hello I just get new
Hello
Be sure to use an LMP-P202 projector lamp only for replacement. If you use lamp other than this number the projector may malfunction. After replacing the lamp you have to reset the lamp time. Connect the power cord and turn the projector to the standby mode. Be sure to close the lamp cover properly before switch the projector ON. After turn the projector to standby mode; Press the following keys on the control panel in the following order for less than 5 seconds each.
[RESET, , ENTER]
If the projector does not reset by this method, take out the lamp carefully, and reinstall it once more with care. Shut the cover flip of the lamp and screw it well.
If this also does not help you to reset the lamp time, your projector need service. Be sure once more about the lamp number you replaces. OK.
My projetor is not coming on its saying lamp cover
It may be a problem with a filter cover. This may fix the problem:
- Plug out the projector
- Click off the filter at the bottom of the projector.
- Plug the projector back in. (the lamp cover light should flash)
- Plug the projector out again.
- Put the filter cover back on.
- Plug the projector in again and it should work fine.
If that didn't help, there is a lamp cover at the bottom of the projector for replacing fused lamp. This cover is tied to the bottom via a single screw. Just make sure that this screw is not loose. In my case, when I tightened it the indication has vanished.
Colour problem on Sony VPL-PX11 multimedia projector
First you need to check the prism.
If the prism is mounted properly then you need to check the light filter(s) on the lcd panels.
The light filter determines the color, if the filter is not placed properly you will have the color problem.
In order to check the filter take the top off, then the main board off and the lens off. The lcd panels and the filters are attached to the prism. Remove the filters and check if it is proper. If it is not proper replace it.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for using Fixya.
I have two Sony PX11 projectors, one with a bad
it's not the prism. chancs are it's the light filter(s) on the lcd panels. the prism is just coated glass. the light filters determine the color. you need to take the top off, the main board off (unplugging the ribbon cables), and the lens off. the lcd panels anf the filters are attached to the prism. remove the filters, but do not remove the lcd panels!
Hi fixya,
one of the light filters on the lcd panels has a burn mark on it. probably the green. it is due to dust in the optical engine. it needs cleaning and the light filter needs replacing. unfortunately, most projector companies don't sell or repair individual parts, and you may need to replace the whole optical engine (which is pretty pricey).
Lamp timer reset
Found in the owners manual.
It's important to reset the Lamp timer after replacing the lamp since the Lamp timer
will trigger the warning message. This can be done in Standby mode by pressing the
following sequence within 5 sec.
RESET, Left Arrow Key, right Arrow Key, ENTER.
This is also explained in the operation manual of the Lamp.

Lamp/cover button blinking red, how can I solve my Sony projector?
The blinking red lamp/cover button on your Sony projector typically indicates an issue with the lamp or the projector's internal temperature. Here are a few steps you can take to try to resolve the issue:
- Check the lamp cover: Make sure that the lamp cover is properly closed and secured. If the cover is not properly closed, the projector may not turn on or may turn off after a short time.
- Check the lamp: If the lamp cover is properly closed, the next step is to check the lamp itself. Remove the lamp and check it for any visible signs of damage, such as cracks or discoloration. If the lamp appears to be in good condition, try reseating it to ensure it is properly installed. If you have access to a replacement lamp, try installing it to see if the problem is resolved.
- Check the projector's air vents: Ensure that the projector's air vents are not blocked or obstructed, as this can cause the projector to overheat and shut down. Make sure that the projector is placed in a well-ventilated area.
- Reset the projector: Try resetting the projector by turning it off and unplugging it from the power source for several minutes. Then, plug it back in and try turning it on again.
- Consult the user manual: If none of the above steps solve the issue, consult the user manual for your Sony projector for further troubleshooting steps or contact Sony's customer support for further assistance.
If the issue persists, it may indicate a more serious internal problem with the projector that may require professional repair.
