In order to provide any assistance or possible explanations, a little fmore info is required. When you state that other brands don't work, what happens? Also, what size of tapes are you using? 60Min, 90Min? Please post more details about what is and is not working and we'll try to help.

The most likely thing is that the optics on the laser are dusty. Get yourself a CD Optics cleaning disc which has little brushes on it.

The other possibility is the discs you are playing? Are they mastered originals or copies? Are they clean and scratch free?

The unit is faulty.

Hi my Sony mgongo amplifier says usb protect why ??

Sony Audio... | Answered on Jun 30, 2020

Battery is 100% discharged. Therefore, PC's USB with 5V/500mA set up has not enough power to start up the charging process because loading current is greater than the set up, therefore USB is disabled immediately due to sudden current load.
Battery must not be discharged 100%
If it happens then the supplied AC adaptor must be used firstly because it is providing 5V/800mA power. After a couple of minutes the unit can be connected to PC without problem then it can continue the charging during file transfer, etc.
