Hello unfortunately this unit don't have a erase function the only thing you can get a Microcassette eraser this eraser will help even if you decide to buy any micro or mini cassette transcriber when you used the erase function on the unit the life on the head, rewind, gears and motors get reduced by using this method if you used and eraser it erase the tape Magnets are on top and bottom eliminating the need to flip the tape allowing complete erasure on one second heare is a eraser you can buy and it is cheaper than buying other unit. http://www.tvps.com/Products/ECS-ME20-Mini--Micro-Cassette-Eraser---New__VE-ME-20.aspx

Hello Sorry but the Model M-2000 does not have erase funtion but I recomend to get and eraser is really cheap and just you pased once and will be erase the product is Mini/Micro cassette eraser

In reading the pamphlet that came with mine, I noticed that it says that when a recording is made , the previous recording is automatically erased. I guess you can only erase it by recording over it, which is stupid.....I can't believe they didn't put an erase button on it!

Assuming you are using a cable to connect your cell phone to the speaker you could be overloading the input of the speaker when you turn the phone volume up very high. That would cause distortion that might damage the speaker so it shuts down or turns off.
