Most of the generic electronic components are simply purchased by RS and packaged to sell in their stores. In the last few years, there have been more items 'custom manufactured for radio shack' that you won't see elsewhere. I don't believe Radio Shack manufactures them. The items are produced by manufacturers who are capable of supplying whatever is needed.
For a more definitive answer, you should contact Radio Shack.
