I have a Alpine CHM

Hello If the set is reading disc, and disc information is there, and counter is advancing, there is no fault in your reading mechanism unit of Laser Head. The fault may be in the digital to analogue converter IC on the CD processing board. Normally it will be [SMD] type, ie Surface Mount Type, which requires special tools and soldering systems to replace it. You yourself cannot do this. In rare cases, the strip wire that goes from the Laser Pickup Unit to the main board may get damaged. It has carbon tracks as conductors, and it have to move along with the laser assembly, tracks can get damaged. You just open the set, and replace the laser head strip and see the effect. If it doesn't help, contact the service center and get it repaired. Ok.

Alpine CHM-S620 6 Disc CD Changer Components

sounds like the changer was plugged into the antenna jack of the radio. this means that you can run it through any radio simply by sending a signal to a preset station on the radio and listening to it through tuner. the control unit ran the changer itself. you may be able to obtain replacement cables from pacparts.com

Player is installed in trunk

Hi, we get this all the time from these boot mounted units, they all seem to succumb no matter how well mounted or how good they are, invariably, they fail, It must be due to the "G" forces and the bumping and shock that always causes these to fail. You will have to take this to a registered Auto-Electrician, and ask for a "Quote" for repair, or replacement, I stress the later... Also the laser often burns out in these too as they are forever, trying to re-focus and reposition again due to all the forces, when a laser tries to read and error correct,it ramps up the power to try to get a "Better" read, this quickly burns out either the laser or the Quadrant Detector. We replace these all the time.

My cd player is installed

That's a typical laser lens problem. Does the problem occur on factory cds or on recorded cds from a computer? Also try this: let the cd player start playing the first track and after 1 minute of playing push previous track. In that way the cd must play the last track of the cd. If the lens is at a problem condition ususlly it goes either to error state or at stop potition.
If you have all the above symptoms, I suggest you going the cd player to a technician for the laser lens to change. He will tell you if this is possible for your model, since there are not parts for all the cd players.

In case of a problem or clarification, don't hesitate to post.

Changer not playing. Can't eject

Hi, it is the mechanism of the changer that has jammed, in case you want to do it manually, you will find a pinhole on the changer and you can use a paperclip, insert it in the hole and it will open. Hopefully it wont jam again. If the problem still persist, then you have to take the changer to a radio repairer to bring out the cartridge and fix the changer....

Take care

When i want to change from radio to cd function on

try pressing the reset switch or disconnecting power to the radio for a few minutes. sometimes jumping the battery sends a voltage spike to the radio and locks up the microprocessor.

I need to change the region code of Alpine

You don't need a region code for play audio or mp3 CD's. The region code comes into play because there are diff. & for displaying images.
For a CD player, its universal anywhere around the globe unless you have a radio FM/AM radio installed too. Even then local stations can be picked up according to their broadcast frequency.
Thus only a DVD Player gas region codes since options include a decoding algorithm so that it can be used, like PAL/SECAM, etc....sodeep
