Everything seems threaded properly and stitches are not catching

Hi, If you remove the needle plate, you will be able to turn the machine by hand and watch as the hook catches the loop when the needle is on its way back up. Make sure that the upper thread is between the tension discs and the presser foot is down.(if the foot is up the discs open and release tension on the thread). I have included a link to the manual so you can see how the bobbin assembly goes together. Kenmore 385 12912 Owner Manual I hope this helps. Bob

Hand wheel seizedhandw

Is the hand wheel seized and you can't free motion to wind bobbin? If so it's usually simply done up too tight. Or is it and the machine seized?

Im trying to hem a

If you think its the way the material is being moved, I would check the pressure on the presser foot. On my machine, there a knob with 1,2,3 to adjust, its vertically above the foot on the top of the machine(Check you manual). Sometimes the jeans hem is just too thick on the side seam. I just skip that part, or move the needle through that part by using my hand on the wheel, so the stitsches look ok, but it should do the rest of the hem fine. Try the thinnest part of the hem first; good luck

I can't get the tension on my sewing machine

It is possible that you threaded the machine with the presser foot down.

This creates loopy stitching because the thead never entered the tension control. Foot down = closed tension.

Put the settings back to their normal settings.

Raise the presser foot and re thread the machine.

How to put thread on a bobbin of a Kenmore Sewing

I could not find a guide for this model.

If there is a knob in the center of the handwheel, it needs to be loosened.

Take the thread from the spool around the first guide and then to toward the bobbin winder.

Run the end of the thread through an opening in the side of the bobbin spool.

Hold onto about 5" of the thread and place the bobbin spool onto the bobbin pin and move the pin to the right or the winding wheel to the left (depends on how your machine is designed).

Holding onto the thread end, press the power pedal.

When you cannot hold onto the thread any longer, stop the machine and cut off the thread end and then continue to wind the bobbin.

Disengage the bobbin winder (move the pin or the wheel back into place) and tighten the knob in the center of the handwheel before sewing.

Model 385.12912 needle mechanism jammed

In cases like this either you should be able to examine what caused the mechanism jam and then find a solution or take it to some one who does just that for you.

I don't think any one can give a solution without seeing the machine
