According to the description for the 15218 sewing machine, it has a one-step buttonhole function. You should be able to put on the automatic buttonhole foot, insert the button behind the presser foot, and set the pattern selector dial to "BH"- see p. 66 of the manual at http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/lis_pdf/OWNM/L0909499.pdf

How do I fix a bobbin rewind problem? It won't

Always thread a sewing machine with the presser foot up - this will make sure the tension feature has control of the top thead.
Make sure the needle is properly placed - usually with the flat side toward the back of the machine.

Owner's manuals do not usually supply repair information beyond correcting operation mistakes. That information is contained in the service manual (which I don't have access to). You are likely stuck with taking it to a service shop.
