My internet drops when I

Hello,
I have heard a lot of reports from triple play customers saying either their internet is cutting out, phone or TV all the time. This could be due to bad hardware, bad cable splitters, but is most likely, saturated bandwidth. You will have to call comcast and have them troubleshoot the issue. Your IP phone modem may need to be given a less aggressive QoS setting etc.

I lost my acess coad

Hi.

Are you saying your password with your wireless router? If you don't remember it anymore, just reset your modem and it will go back to factory settings, without a password. Somewhere on the router is a small hole. Unfold a paper clip and push down the button in the small hole for about 5 secs or until the lights go off and on again.

Thank you!

I have an Arris Touchtone

that is a wireless issue, the Arris is working because you are able to surf wired. Check you wireless router and make sure your setting are good on it. Otherwise, replace the router.

I need an open nat

The NAT usually has to do with a device connected to a router. You cannot change the NAT on a modem, only a router. To change it to open, you have to simple forward portsneed to contact ur internet service provider for port forwarding.

TM603G

Hi,

Thanks for writing to Fixya.com.

You have to power cycle the Arris by using the reset button on the rear of it whenever you change the device that you are connecting directly to it. The Router you are using needs to use DHCP on the WAN side. To be more specific try like this. Reset the router back to factory settings. Unplug it. Reset modem. Let modem lock completely. Plug in router. Plug your computer into the router via Ethernet. Set up your wireless network.

Thanks for contacting Fixya and please accept the solution if it has helped you.

I ADDED A ROUTER ASKING FOR WPA ?????? WHERE CAN I

If your router does not have the default password on the back/bottom (usually located on a serial sticker), then the next easiest thing to do is, assuming that you have a patch/straight-through rj45(ethernet) cable, like one that you may have used to connect your modem to your computer, and plug one end into your NIC card, and the other into an ethernet port on your router. After you do this, use your computer's internet browser to get on the router's configuration page. To do this, go to your address bar and type in your router's IP Address, which, if using a linksys, is 192.168.1.1 by default (another way to find it is to go to command prompt on your computer, and type in the command "ipconfig" and looking at the default gateway). After entering the router's IP address, a window should pop up asking for a username and password, which, once again by default, are "admin", "admin", or "admin", "password". This should bring you to the configuration page for the router. From here, look for wireless security, and under that header, you should find your WPA settings and passkey. Change it to your liking, and when finished MAKE SURE TO CLICK SAVE SETTINGS AT THE BOTTOM OF THE PAGE OR THEY WILL NOT SAVE!!!

Where is turn off button ?

There are many models. Many external modems do not have a power switch. If a switch is not in plain view, then is has none. They are on all the time and to power them off you have to disconnect the power supply wire.
If you want a answer for your exact model, please post the model # and I will reply.

Good Luck

Internet connection with arris modem does not go

Check if:
  • the power cable is plugged in firmly in both ends?
  • reset the cable modem (use the reset button at the back of the modem)
If all led's stay off, and you are 100% sure that there is electricity on the powersocket, then there must be a technical problem. Contact UPC
Switch off the stand-by button, and you will be online again .
If the power-led is on and the online-led is blinking, then the stand-by button is active.

If the cable-led is continuosly on, then there is no data to/from the cable interface. Control if the cable is firmly connected
Reset the cable modem
If, after reset, there is still no data transfer, contact UPC.
If the Ethernet-led is off , then the ethernet link is disconnected.
Check if the PC or hub is firmly connected and/or powered

Ethernet link connected, but no traffic. Check if there is no problem with the hub, or check if there is no firewall blocking the traffic. Check also the tcp/ip settings

I have a tm502g modem and it keeps disconnecting

The 502 cannot be reset by unplugging it. It has a battery. There is a reset right in the middle on the back. There is a pinhole and you push a toothpick or unrolled paperclip inside the hole and it resets. There are a couple of issues here. Does the EMTA (modem) turn off and reset, knocking you off or does your computer go off while the modem is fine (you will still have phone). If you still have phone then you have another problem. You have a router or a bad ethernet cable. If the modem is going offline I bet you have a splitter on the coax coming into your house. One lead from the splitter goes to your tv and the other your modem. If that is happening it is your splitter. It isnt bad, you just want to re-seat your cables into that splitter. Just undo them, push them in and out of the splitter a few times and your modem will go back online for another year or so

Is there a chance that settings in the modem will

Although it is difficult to say for "ALL" programs.
Keep in mind for windows machines the operating system uses the one modem connection for ALL applications.

Slim to no chance a modem setting will cause one program to not connect and the others will. They are all sharing the same modem and settings.

Now if the machine is slow and the application takes awhile to load.
This could cause the time out no connection error message.
Hope this helps!

Good luck!
