TV flips through menus, changes channels, and changes volume without any buttons being pushed

Main system control memory IC fault. This is a very small IC; have 8 solder terminals, and can be located very near to the main system control-chroma IC. Check and replace it. Be sure to replace it with the same number printed on it; in all respect. Otherwise, it won't go. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ Before replacing it, try a reset to this set, and then check. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here.

Line top to bottom of screen 4 inches from left side; whole area distorted. appears after tv is on 15 minutes. does not go away. tv is 2-3 years old. was not dropped.

A TV does not to be dropped to get errors. The screen is build up with a a few million pixels. they are switched on and of in lines and rows. Bundles of rows and bundles of lines have a combined "switcher" If one bundle gets a poor supply (bad contact or defective electronics) a band of pixels will act different or not at all. I'm afraid it is a normal defect and you need a tech to solve the problem. Before you order someone to repair, ask what it will cost, because in 3 years TV sets became much cheaper. Perhaps a new one is cheaper than a repair.

I turned on the tv this morning and it says "No Signal" and I tried changing the video source but it still says the same thing. How do I get out o it?

If you have cycled through all the inputs without success then either the TV is bad or the input device is causing an issue. Oftentimes programming is delivered via a subscriber device, dvd player, or other independent player/source. If you have a service like Comcast then they typically will help with troubleshooting. It may sound silly, but be sure to check things are plugged in and turned on. Also, if you are using a strip cord to plug things into make sure the reset switch isn't tripped.

I have no volume

Go to the audio setup screen and make sure the audio is being sent to the internal speakers. If that's correct then look at replacing the main board on the TV

Tv picture cuts in and out

Have you tried pressing on the format button? On most cases this is caused because of the format the channel is transmiting, when you turn off and on again the TV auto-formats. But you can solve this by pressing the format button on your remote. Let me knows if it helps.

I just bought a 42"

First of all, here is the main ONLINE SUPPORT page for your model:

http://www.hannspree.com/US/EN/Product/Televisions/LCDTVs/ST42DMSB/Detail.aspx?sort=2&page=1&pattrs=80&attrs=92&viewAll=0

And here is a direct link to the ONLINE USER'S MANUAL for that model:

http://www.hannspree.com/HSPV3images/Downloads/LCD-TVs/ST-DMSB/UserManual/ST42DMSB/ST42DMSB_UM_US(EN).pdf

To view the Support Page or the Owner's Manual with Operating Instructions just use your mouse to click on the link, which is the underlined and highlighted text just above. This will open a new web browser page automatically for you and allow you to view the information at the website indicated and the contents of the Owner's Manual.

You may need ADOBE READER installed on your computer to read PDF documents.
You can download this free at WWW.ADOBE.COM if necessary.
Click on the DOWNLOAD ADOBE READER button on right side of the ADOBE home page when you get there, then follow the onscreen instructions to install the software on your computer.

See page 27 of the manual for detailed instructions on how to use the TV and exactly how to switch input sources.

Basically you just connect your DVD player cables to the appropriate input connectors on the back of the TV. Also make sure your DVD player is fully powered up and turned on. See page 23 of the manual for detailed diagrams of the correct cable connection procedure for your device.

Then push the INPUT button on the TV or on the TV's remote control repeatedly until you get to the correct INPUT MODE, then press OK to confirm.

Please comment back here to this page if you have any details to add, have any questions, have difficulty accessing the links, or just require further general assistance and I will respond as soon as I see it.

I hope that was helpful to you, good luck and take care.

Joe.

I have a 42in hannspree that i am trying to hook

Run an optical cable from the back of the TV to the input on you audio/video receiver amplifier, then access the A/V receiver's menu and navigate to optical inputs, assign the one you connect the cable to in the previous step, to TV or Sat function (the input or source on your remote), verify it and you are done.
If no optical output on the back of the TV, then use the RCA audio output, and just connect it to any audio input on the back of the A/V receiver, and use that specific input as a source when listening to the surround.

Trying to incorporate my Hannspree

Hi, unfortunately the only way to use your particular brands remote with your cable companies remote is if the cable remote has what's called a "LEARN " key. This is used for cloning another remotes codes to the cable's remote. Unfortunately most tv suppliers don't provide their codes for universal remote use. The first thing i would do is contact your cable providers customer assistance to see if they have setup codes for your brand. then if that doesn't work then you can always buy a universal remote with a " LEARN " function, enabling use with hanspree tv as well as current cable box. I hope this was helpful and thanks, let us know how we did, Good luck ,Prodzilla

I recently purchased the 42

Hi:
If you recently purchased this unit, i suggest you take it back to the vendor, this is an indication of a bad main or intermittent T-Con board. You should still be under the one year manufacture warranty and they will send someone out to check or replace the boards.

Hannspree 42 lcd right side is showing ghost picture

The issue you are experiencing with your Hannspree 42 LCD TV could be caused by a few different things, such as a loose cable connection, a faulty T-con board, or a defective panel. Here are a few steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue:
  1. Check the cable connections: Make sure that all the cables connected to your TV, especially the ones connected to the right side of the TV, are firmly plugged in.
  2. Power reset: Try turning off your TV and unplugging it from the power outlet for at least 10-15 minutes, then plug it back in and turn it on again.
  3. Swap inputs: If you are only experiencing the ghosting on one input, try swapping the input with another one to see if the issue persists.
  4. T-con board: If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it is possible that the T-con board is faulty. The T-con board controls the timing of the image displayed on the screen and is often the culprit of ghosting issues. A technician can diagnose and replace this board if necessary.
  5. Panel: If the above steps don't resolve the issue, it is possible that the LCD panel itself is defective. This is less common but can happen over time. Unfortunately, replacing the panel can be costly and may not be worth it on an older TV.
If none of the above steps resolve the issue, it may be best to contact a qualified technician to diagnose and repair the issue.

How to Program hannspree remote to hannspree tv

To program a Hannspree remote to a Hannspree TV, first turn on the TV and then press and hold the "Code" button on the remote until the LED light turns on. Next, enter the four-digit code for the TV using the number keys on the remote. If the TV turns off, press the "Code" button to save the code. If it doesn't turn off, try another code until you find one that works. If you cannot find the four-digit code for your Hannspree TV, you can try using the code search feature on the remote. To do this, follow the steps for programming the remote but instead of entering a code, press and release the "Code" button and then press the "Power" button repeatedly until the TV turns off. Then, press the "Code" button to save the code. If you are having trouble programming the remote, make sure you are aiming the remote directly at the TV and that you are not too far away. Also, check that the batteries in the remote are fresh and properly installed. If you accidentally program the remote to the wrong TV or if you want to program it to a different TV, you can reset the remote to its default settings by pressing and holding the "Code" button for at least three seconds until the LED light turns off. This will erase any previously programmed codes.
