Black spots = damaged screen = not repairable = must replace player

All you can do are the "soft" fixes - reset, repair, restore, format, update, upgrade, etc; but, since black spots are caused by hardware failure rather than software failure, none of these methods will work

Hopefully, you are still under warranty

Make sure your operating system (XP, Vista, Macintosh, etc) is compatible with the Archos. Make sure you installed the installation CD first, before inserting the player. Restart the computer once before inserting the player. If same result, try a different usb port on the same computer or another computer.

If it still doesn't work, then go to the Archos website and see if a firmware upgrade is available for your particular model.

i have the exact same problem same place is craked just happend is it coverd by archos warrenty?

I have not yet solved the problem. I cannot contact Archos as they never recognise my password although I have their confirmation, which they sent when I registered the 605 WiFi. I think it is the USB connection that is the problem. I have tried all the USB ports on my computer with no result. I tried to phone their helpline, but on my landline got a recorded voice saying "The number was barred" and from another landline phone the the reception kept breaking up. Phoning from a mobile got the same poor reception. I am thinking I may have to give up.

Some AV400 models are made with integrated batteries which
are designed to last for the life of the AV400. This means that you will
not have to change them. If, in the exceptional case, the batteries need
changing, this should only be done by an Archos technician.

If your player is dead, it is probably NOT the battery that's the problem.

Here's what you do.
Make sure that you can play one of the sample videos to your TV. Next, stop and go to the home screen.
Next, if your external HD has a powersource, plug that into the wall and the device so that it has power. Next plug the usb cable into the side of the DVR Station. The device screen (or the tv if you are still on tv out) should say, external device connecting. It will show the double browser screen and then just go to the file desired and click on OK. If the device doesnt recgnize and mount the external hd, could be because there is not enough power to the ext. HD or the HD is formatted in somehting other than fat32.

If the display is working, you have audio. Check your amplifier. 1300Watt adaptor ... This unit draws a very low power and that is not needed.

1. Power Off: Turn off the device.
2. Jumper Configuration: Locate the jumper labeled "S16" on the device. Initially, it should be connected to pins 2 and 3.
3. Power On (Alarm+All LEDs Flashing): Turn the device back on. You'll see the alarm LED and all other LEDs flashing.
4. Power Off Again: Turn off the device once more.
5. Jumper Adjustment: Change the jumper configuration from pins 2 and 3 to pins 1 and 2.
6. Finished: Your Porpo YH-2000 is now set to the desired angular unit mode.

If you encounter any issues, you can press the reset switch on the back of the device to reinitialize it.

They charge $180 but they cost them $20 to buy from China. Package them up and send them tracked and ask them to replace the batteries. How long is the warranty on AfterShokz? Are you using the charging cables that came with it? That is a type C. Are you securely attaching the charging cable? A loose connection would keep the battery from charging. If you had a low battery, you would see a red light. That you have no light at all suggests there is no charge left in the battery. I'm not sure the reset will work with no charge which is why you ought to check the cables first. But turn it off and then hold down the Multifunction button for 10 seconds to reset it. Then turn it back on and see what happens. If you can, test the charging cable on aother device. If you have another type C charging cable, try it, just to eliminate a bad cable.
