Try to replace the usb cable. Also from pc program do the maintenance program run.
If still problem found check the printer with other pc or the pc usb port for other device if it works then replace the main PBA of the printer.

take out each toner and look at the drum, are there line on them? if yes (most likely) than that is the problem the toners are leaking. If not clean inside with dry cloth, might just be some toner spill.
Is the printer directly connected to your husband's computer?
If so your husband's computer MUST be switched on AND connected to the network. Depending on your settings your husband's computer may have to be logged in, for it to be 'connected to the network'
Also power saving could be causing you problems. I.e. your husbands machine may be going into 'sleep' mode when not in use. You can adjust the 'power saving' options from control panel (on your husband's machine) to prevent the computer going off-network and therefore setting your printer 'off-line'

On the cd you received with the printer there will be software called smart panel,install the software as this will tell you what the problem is and you will be able to sort it out!!

second - you need electronic chip to use it whit refilled cartridge...
and not at last place - "mission imposible" whit this cartridge :)
