Daewoo DV-6T955B DVD Player/VCR Questions & Answers
You can only copy non-commercial VHS tapes that you have recorded yourself to DVD. You can\'t make copies of most commercially made VHS movies due to copy-protection.

The problem sounds like one I had. If so, the cause is as follows.
The Daewoo ouputs synchronisation information on the green channel of the RGB outputs (which are pins in the SCART socket) The Panasonic TV automatically preferentially selects the RGB input in the SCART rather than the composite video signal in the SCART. The video circuits in the Panasonic should ignore the sync on the green channel but instead interpret the sync as green signal information which means the adjustment of the green channel is upset leading to a very green picture.
Possible solutions:
1. From the TV, manually select composite video input, not RGB. This may not be possible - I think the TV automatically goes for the RGB if it is present.
2. Disconnect the wire to pin 16 in the SCART socket. This is the signal from the VCR/DVD to indicate that RGB is available. Disconnecting it means the TV defaults to the composite video. This is what I did.
3. Connect the TV to the VCR/DVD using component or S-VHS leads only.

Have you tryed to use a lens cleaning disc yet. The laser lens on these players and recorders alike, must have the lens cleaned every oince in awhile. If that does not help, most likly you have a bad laser pickup assembly and you will need to replace the plaer as to have that repaiered, you could buy a new unit. Good Luck

This is the classic sign of a laser in the process of failing.
It takes less power to read a CD than it does a DVD but their will come a point where it won't read CDs either.
Unfortunately due to the cost of a replacement laser it is not cost effective to repair these units.

I have never witnessed a CD cleaner actually working, Open the unit up and clean the lens area manually. It is convex and recessed. the laser pickup seems to attract small fibers, by static electricity, these foreign particles bend the light and prevent CD reading.

Open the top again but use a Q-tip with alcohol and clean the laser. Make sure the dvd is spinning too because it could also be a bad motor.

The laser sensor doesn't detect the presence of the disk. The only thing you can do is to clean the lens: buy and use one of those cleaning disks. If this doesn't fix it then the lens is damaged. Since you can't replace the lens alone you must replace the entire optical unit - this will cost you around $90 part and labor. Try to find out if you can buy an entire new unit for less.
