Since you have upgraded your computer to Windows 7 operating system, you will have to download and install the Windows 7 compatible driver and software from the manufacturer's support website.
You can download and install the latest driver and software from:
http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx
On the page which opens, select "Printers and Fax Machines" from
Select a Product Category (See attached image)
Then in the "Enter Product Model" box, select "
Model not listed"
Then in the model number field, enter "
AL 1642CS"
For "Select a Download Type", select "
Any".
Then click on
Search button.
From the search results which open, download and install the driver and software.
