Reset the drum count by pressing "Clear" then "Exposure Mode" then "Clear" then "Exposure Mode"
Exposure mode is far left key on panel. You need to do this fairly quickly so that the display goes blank.
Once display goes blank then key in 24 then press print, then key in 7 then press print. You should now be getting flashing 000
Turn machine off then on and light should be gone.
Short version: C,far left,C,far left,24,print,7,print

To reset the H4 condition on just about any Sharp AL series copier press the following key's in sequence and as quickly as possible (with 4 seconds for the first 4 keys)
Press "C" then the far left key (exposure mode) then the "C" key then the far left again.
So in other words C, far left, C, far left
Some model's use 2 other initial codes, so you may need to use one of these 2 alternate codes to get your display to go blank. The rest of the procedure is the same.
Alternate codes are: #, * , C, * or pound,star,C,star and also
#, Interupt, C, Interupt
If done correctly the display should go blank.
Now key in 14 as if you were going to make 14 copies.
Now press the print button.
The machine should reset and the code should be gone.
9 times out of 10 this is a false code that pops up due to power surges or noise.
If the code comes back this means you have a heater lamp or thermal fuse (more common) failure in the fusing area and will need service.

This is your pre-heat or energy save mode light. It means that the machine is in the energy save mode. This light goes off when you press the print button which will "wake up" the copier and bring it to a ready to copy state. It will remain ready for a minute or 2 after making your last copy then it will return to sleep mode. Sharp had to do this in order for the machine to qualify for the Energy Star rating.

Will the tray not pick them up at all, or do they feed out about 2 inches? If they feed out of the tray and will not get past the curved area you need to open that door where the jam is and make the spring pressure on those springs on each side tighter. I kind of loop the bottom hook of the spring up into the rest of the spring to create more spring pressure on the rolls and then it should work.

Since you have upgraded your computer to Windows 7 operating system, you will have to download and install the Windows 7 compatible driver and software from the manufacturer's support website.

You can download and install the latest driver and software from:
http://www.sharpusa.com/CustomerSupport/ProductDownloads.aspx

On the page which opens, select "Printers and Fax Machines" from Select a Product Category (See attached image)

Then in the "Enter Product Model" box, select "Model not listed"

Then in the model number field, enter "AL 1642CS"

For "Select a Download Type", select "Any".

Then click on Search button.





From the search results which open, download and install the driver and software.

you should clean the thin glass(it is about 2cm wide) under the spf.

The light and dark banding going horizontally accross the page is usually caused by the drum unit. This is the smaller of the 2 cartridges and it sits just to the right of where the toner sits. If you have a spare drum unit, replace it. This should resolve the problem. The Toner cartridge can also caus this but if you have tried 2 DIFFERENT units with the same banding then it must not be the toner.

The H4 error code indicates a problem with the fuser, but sometimes it is just a false code. to reset enter buttons clr, exposure, clr, exposure, the display will blank, enter 14, press prnt button, then clr several times to get out and thats it.

However,if this reset solution does not work,it means the fuser needs a replacement to return your copier back in a normal working condition.

It can`t print with 7,apply win xp and install it.

empty waste toner box

first uninstall all 1642 printer.turn off copier.disconnect usb cable.restart pc,insert cd and install when it ask printer to be connect,then connect usb and turn on your cpier and wait for installing.just do this

it must be shared for all to access. The online button can be pressed to stop the print process when adding paper or toner.

I have a lot of spare parts this machine.I live in Bangladesh.How can it possible to send you full fuser unite.if your necessary please send me details.your mailing address.I am expert this copier.it is problem heater gear.it replaceble.If I live in Your country it is no matter for me only 10 minutes.But I am bad luck I live in Bangladesh.It is so far.
