Hi Mike, how old is the drill and how much have you used it? Hopefully it is only the brushes, it is carbon rods with a piece of copper braid connected to it, there might be a spare set (2) in the original box. These parts do wear out and is replaceable. Check your manual on how to replace them. Hope this helps.

I read online that someone fixed this problem by rotating the plug in the wall. Another person said that the terminals in the charger were a bit corroded and possibly bent so they caused the lights to flash.

Completely dead batteries may cause the charger to not see any load and it wont charge them. The way around this is to put the battery on the charger with the charger unplugged. Then plug in the charger and check the lights. Keep unplugging and plugging in the charger till it catches up and stays on.

I have run RYOBI printing presses for the last 30 years and I bought a RYOBI rechargeable drill and rechargeable garden tool. I am disgusted by how cheap they were and how the batteries just gave up. I have heard about bumping a battery by running a good battery thru it. It was suppose recondition the battery, however I got two ruined battery for that.
