Frigidaire FRA144HT2 Air Conditioner Questions & Answers
Why does it work for a few hours, then shut off?
Sounds like you may have ice build up on the coil. This will cause the refrigerant pressures in the AC to go out of desired range and cause the unit to shut down. Ice build up can be caused by a dirty filter or blocked coils in the front of the AC or a fan not running up to speed. There could be another problem with the AC refrigerant charge, but normally the homeowner can not fix that. If the unit shuts down, it will not start again until the pressures equalize.
I have a Frigidaire FRA144HT2.
According to the Owner's Manual for your unit, what you have described can be caused by a dirty air intake filter (Turn unit Off, remove and clean the air intake filter) and/or the outside air is extremely hot. Set the fan speed to a faster setting, so that more air will come through the cooling coils more frequently.
In case you have misplaced your Owner's Manual, I have included a link to it, that you can download & print for future reference.

Window ac/heater freezes up when using the heater?
This is likely due to a lack of airflow. Make sure that the air filter is clean and that there are no obstructions blocking the air intake or exhaust vents. If this does not resolve the issue, you may need to have a technician come out and inspect the unit for any other potential issues.
