Hitachi rear projection tv 50ux10b

Check the speaker/s. If found OK; check and replace the damaged component/s at its audio output section circuit board. If needy, replace this board as card basis. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. Search the site by type in the "brand name" to your device; in the "Search box at the top right of the display window of the Homepage" to get gathered related posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/

Will not come on Hitachi 50UX26B/27K

Hi,

Apologies for the delay in responding. I was made aware of your concern just recently.

To your concern of a Hitachi 50UX26B/27K; If I understand your post correctly:
  • there is a red LED lit inside the unit;
  • the front LED will not lit up;
  • the unit is technically a dead set.
Offhand, the unit is in protective mode, that is it prevents itself from completely turning ON so as not to further the electronic damage.

You need to know: extent of possible damage, repair cost and step by step for a possible DIY (do-it-yourself). This of course would require a fair familiarity of electronic components/circuitry and safety procedures, use of a DVM and a soldering iron. It would be to your added advantage access to a service manual or at the very least a schematic diagram with voltage readings. Should you be uncomfortable performing a DIY, perhaps your best bet would then be to seek the services of a qualified professional.

If you are considering a DIY, the best procedure would be to follow the checklist/diagnostic steps as outlined in the service manual. Probable causes among others are:
  • convergence ICs STK 392-110 (very often). Further, pls check for burned/discolored resistors within the same area;
  • leaked/blistered capacitors especially on the main B+ line. For a 1997 model very likely;
  • startup circuitry in the power supply section (I901 and D907);
  • power relay/driver;
  • low B+ regulators;
  • vertical IC plus zeners of vertical shutdown circuitry
  • HD, HDT, HOT/FBT (not that often).
A few notes that might be of use to you:
  • should you have verified the STKs as defective, the STK392-150 or STK392-180 are no better then the STK392-110, the STK392-120 is better, but if you want the very best IC, pls use the STK394-160. Additionally most online stores supply replacement instructions together with the parts upon purchase. Based on a Hitachi Service Bulletin, a "replacement kit" must be used with part number X480306 inclusive of the STK ICs, all resistors needed;
  • if it were the convergence ICs, parts would not be more than 50~80USD. If a professional would work on the unit, the service fee (a couple of hundred dollars) would relatively be higher than the parts cost. If you are considering seeking the services of a qualified professional, it may be to your advantage to avail of the repair facilities of a Hitachi Service Center;
  • here is an illustrated STK replacement tutorial for another brand/model;
  • a free downloadable service manual for Chassis AP63
  • here are some repair tips for Hitachi 50UX versions.
Of course, anything else could possibly be affecting the unit other than the convergence ICs. Again, the diagnostic procedure as outlined in the service manual should guide you.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information. Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

Hitachi ultravision 50ux26b. Two problems.

All projection TV sets have two very common problems. One is convergence ( 3D/Warped video or dead set) the other is CRT fluid ( Dull Video). Here are more details and solutions for both.

Common Problem #1) Convergence has gone out

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. In some cases the TV will also not show any video. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some pics of convergence problems.

Common Problem #2) CRT Fluid is Cloudy

Projection TV tubes have a liquid coolant that is used to keep them from overheating. After many years the coolant in the blue and green tubes will become cloudy and cause the screen to look dull, red/orange, etc. You may even see halos around images.

Powers down by it self then will not power up for

Hi,
This is an indication that you have a leaky electrolytic capacitor in the voltage regulator section.
Leaky capacitor will affect the regulation of the supply and need a little warm-up to power up the unit.
Replaced the capacitor in that area and your unit will back to normal again.
Hope it may help you.
Have a nice day!
Thanks for using Fixya.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

69189a5.pngCONVERGENCE SOLUTION

You will need to replace the convergence chips and possibly some convergence resistors and pico fuses.
This is a a fairly easy DIY job if you are handy and can follow directions. You can get complete repair kits from TvRepairKits.com or click here. They have put together DIY repair kits that include the OEM parts and step by step photo instructions for each repair. If you are not handy or can't follow directions we would suggest calling a shop.

Double picture and unbalance colors

Projection sets have two very common problems.

The first common problem is convergence

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired. Convergence problems are very common on all Projection TV sets including Sony, Samsung,JVC,Philip Magnavox,Panasonic,Akai,Pioneer, Hitachi,Mitsubishi,Zenith and others.
You can get more information and a DIY convergenece repair kit with instructions from the link below.

Here are some of the most common problems with these sets...

*Screen Looks 3-D
*Colors wont align
*Screen may look distorted or warped
*No Audio/Video - TV Shuts down - May also make a constant chirping sound

Problem #2 - Another common problem is dull or washed out video.

Your set may have one or more of the following symptoms....

*Dull looking picture
*White looking picture
*Halos around objects
*Red/Orange looking picture
