61sdx01b The blue image is 3 inches to the right

You have a Convergence circuit failure. The Convergence ICs probably need to be replaced. It should be done by a professional due to the adjustments that may need to be done in the factory mode after replacing the ICs.
Hope this helps,

Seeing doubles

there is an adjustment called convergence.the convergence setup generates a crosshatch.you need to adjust the red deflection.this is a common thing when the t.v gets moved.the crosshatch or convergence button is mostly on the front control panel.consult the manual for where it is.

Change from TV mode to AV mode for a Hitachi C28W4110SN

There should be buttons somewhere on the TV itself to switch input modes. Look around where the power button is located and see if there is a menu button you can access. Then use channel up/down and volume up/down to scroll thru modes to find input

Hope this helps

Everything work's on the tv there's no visible picture

the same thing happend to my 62 in you most likely need to buy a new convergence board which is in the $3000-$5000 price range so you would be better off buying a new tv thats what i did that is the biggest flaw in projection tvs

I am told my Hitachi 61SDX01B (UltraVision/Ultrascan) has "Green Geometry"

Sounds like a convergence promblem.

Here are some of the most common symptoms of a convergence problem.

Screen looks 3D
One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
Screen is bowed in or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence or magic focus section.

Try to adjust the convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Its a fairly easy fix on the Hitachi sets.

You can get a repair kit that includes all the parts from www.TvRepairKits.com. The kit includes a photo instruction guide, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, etc.
Everything you need to fix it yourself.

Screen is dim and not very bright

You can safely clean the mirror and lenses, it can greatly increase your picture if its dirty. If you unplug your tv you can safely remove the back and gain access to the lenses. All it takes is a philips screwdriver. After you remove the back, you can remove the light barrier between the upper and lower half to free up some room. Take a dry scratch-free cloth and wipe the dust from the lenses. If they're grimy, use a little lens cleaner (liquids used sparingly here, electronics don't like liquids, be careful) You can look up into the top and see if the mirror is dirty. A flashlight shined on it will illuminate the dust/dirt if its there. If you don't smoke you likely won't need to clean the mirror, but it may need it. Use windex or similar for tough grime.. I can usually reach up to get the whole mirror but I've heard of using a swiffer mop to reach the top. Removing the screen is difficult but possible if needed to get inside. Don't touch the back of the screen but lightly with a rag to get cobwebs, etc.

I had this same problem and unplugged the TV from the a power strip and plugged it directly into the wall... problem solved.

I read elsewhere that this is called a "ground loop."

Automatic widescreen mode

If memory serves, no. If I'm wrong, the would be a setting in the menu or the remote to change it from 4:3 to Set by Station or Automatic. Might say Format.

Focus won't help if it is a double image. Sounds like convergence amps need to be replaced. Very typical on these.
