Hitachi 53swx01w blacks out intermittently.

This is a CRT projection tv so the fault is located in the video board: there's a bad soldering/connection on the 175 volts line that powers the final video transistors: when it get heated the parts expand and lose contact.
You will have to dismantle the tv, access the video board, check it and all the cables that plug in it and fix all the dubious ones.

Hitachi projection hdtv has 3d effect and bowed shape

Projection TV sets are known to have two common problems. The first problem that is common to these sets is convergence failure. When this happens the TV will usually look 3D, Wavy/Distorted, etc. It may also shutdown and blink an error code.

The second common problem with Projection TV sets is dull video, halos around objects, white looking video, or red overpowers the screen. This is commonly caused by the fluid in the lens being clouded overs.

Color and images

Projection TV sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the video to look normal. When its out of alignment the video will look 3D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the TV menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

This is a very common failure on these projection sets and a fairly simple DIY fix. All projection sets including Samsung, RCA, Sony, Philip Magnavox, Panasonic, Pioneer, Akai, GE, JVC, Toshiba, and others at some point will have the same problem.

Common Symptoms include....
  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.
  • TV shuts off after powering on. Power light will blink. TV may also make a chirping noise.
Here are some photos of convergence problems.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the settings menu then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move RED and BLUE in all directions - up, down, left, and right. And you should be able to get the grid straight.

If you can't move them in all directions or cant move them far enough your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

Note: If you TV has as flash focus or magic focus button only try pressing the button. If it fails to fix the convergence your need to fix it. See below for a fix

Projection lamps will not light

This tv has a whole bunch of LEDs in the inside to indicate which voltages are up and which are not. There is a label on the inside (side) which tells where the LEDS are and what voltages each stands for. Unplug and replug it in and see which ones come up, let me know, we can diagnose. If e994 is blown, its usually just a fuse and one little cap (easy easy fix if you can solder)..
most of the fuses are chemical and require a multimeter to check... let me know

Hitachi 61SWX01W component seems to have gone out.

First be sure its not the cable box that has a problem with component output. Be sure the cable box is configured for component output, call the cable company to check how to do this. Be sure the component cords are in good standing (working). Make sure you match-up all the color codes correctly. To see if your tv has working component signal, plug in your DVD player, use component connections....is there a picture? if so then the cable box has a problem with component output. If still no picture then read below...

Between the input connections and the Interface IC chip are SMD-fuses, one of them has probably blown. You need to pull out the signal board to find them. If you have an electronics education and test equipment I can show you how to test this SMD fuses, and using an Oscilloscope can show you what signals to look for.

Please let me know how to help you further on this matter...

Adjust RGB guns double vision

Your symptom sounds like at least one damaged convergence IC.

You are correct you can sometimes rework the solder connections on each of these IC’s, although, if the convergence does not fix itself from time to time, you most likely do not have a bad solder connection. You will have a faulty IC. I recommend to replace them both at the same time because the chips legs can fall off due to the heat of the IC.

Please be sure to remove all of the white heat sink compound on the heat sink and apply a even coating over the back of the new IC’s. You should also bolt them down before you solder them in so that you have them at the correct height.

There are two and sometimes three very large IC’s that control the convergence in a big screen set. I believe that your set has two. They are secured to a very large aluminum heat sink. I think that the IC numbers will be IC8001, 80002.

The IC’s are large and black, you cannot miss them. They will usually have an STKXXX-XXX number on them.

There are several schools of thought on the replacement of parts and I firmly believe that you get what you pay for, so don’t buy the cheapest IC’s that you can find. One company I worked for tried this and it only caused more work for the technicians, as we had to replace them with the more expensive ones in the end. I would think that you should be able to find these for around $60.00 each. If you can find the exact Hitachi part, or Sanyo, even though the numbers on the front are the same, and they look exactly like the $10,00 ones, they are better and more reliable.

I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.
Their site is http://www.andrewselectronics.com/welcome.aspx
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to the person about the different types of IC’s that are available.

You can also try http://www.tvrepairkits.com/ , I have not tried them yet, but they do carry OEM or better parts.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.

Picture problem

Do not adjust any knobs as instucted in the previous thread if you TV have a convergence problem. Doing so will only make things worse. The blog does however show you how to fix other common problems with these sets.

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick note and they will put one together for you. Their kits include a photo instruction guide, original OEM Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

Darkening

use the advanced options page and reset the factor blue and red convergence defaults then do re apply the auto color defaults color at first it seemed very red (which is good because red was the missing factor in the green picture) but after reseting all the color and tints to the normal ranges I then reset the color auto correct again and all seems fine.

Hitachi tv shuts off . When I turn on the TV iMessage says please wait then turns off two seconds later.

That sounds like it is not booting properly. I would check for correct power supply opperation and if not that, look for a software reloading procedure in the user instruction manual.

Change input on Hitachi LCD TV model LE65K6R9 without remote?

I'd unplug/disconnect the Roku and after 30 seconds try the control button on the back. If you can change the input do so, then plug the Roku back in. Until you use the input button on the back to change input to Roku, you should be able to use the other buttons on the back to control the TV. If this does not work, unplug both the TV and the Roku. Wait maybe a minute, then plug the TV back in and follow the above instructions. Here are other alternatives: Using physical buttons: You can find the physical buttons on the left or right back side of the Hitachi TV. Using these keys, you can change the input, adjust the volume, or turn on Hitachi TV without a remote. Press the Input button located at the back or side of the Hitachi TV. The list of connected sources will appear on the TV screen12. Using external devices: Connect a wireless keyboard or mouse to your Hitachi TV and change the input1. Buy a universal remote: You can buy a universal remote to control your Hitachi TV and change the source.

How to remove small popup bottom left of Hitachi smart tv screen.

A little popup that appears in the lower left corner of your Hitachi smart TV screen may be related to one of the TV's settings or capabilities. You can attempt the following actions to get rid of it: 1.Investigate notifications: Smart TVs occasionally show notifications for different events or upgrades. If there are any notifications, look for them and then clear them by following the on-screen directions. 2.Applications and Inputs: Make sure all programmes and inputs are closed. The popup may occasionally be connected to an input source or app, which can be closed to get rid of it. 3.On-Screen Display (OSD) Off: There might be an OSD option in the settings menu on Hitachi TVs. Try disabling OSD or changing its settings to see if it gets rid of the popup. Verify any software/firmware updates: 4.Make that the most recent firmware or software upgrades are installed on your TV. Pop-up windows may appear as a result of faults in outdated software. Look for a software update option in the TV's settings menu. 5.Firmware Reset: You can conduct a factory reset on your TV if the problem persists after you've tried various troubleshooting measures. The default values for all settings will be restored as a result. Make cautious to back up any crucial data before doing a factory reset because doing so will also remove any customised settings and data. 6.Message Hitachi Support here: If none of the aforementioned fixes the problem, it's a good idea to get in touch with Hitachi customer service or refer to the TV's user manual for detailed instructions on how to get rid of the popup. Regarding External Devices: 7.The popup may be related to any external devices you have connected to your TV, like a cable box or game console. Make sure that these gadgets are operating properly and that the settings have been changed as necessary. Keep in mind that depending on the type and software version of your Hitachi smart TV, the precise processes and options may change. For instructions unique to your TV model, consult the user manual, or go to the Hitachi website for further help options.
