Yes - You have to put the TV in DCAM mode. Goto www.TvRepairKits.com - on their tips page they have directions for running DCAM.

These sets need to have all three colors - RED - BLUE - GREEN - lined up correctly on the screen in order for the picture to look normal. This is called convergence.

When its out of alignment the video will look 3-D, wavy, distorted, etc. Most of the time you just need to adjust your convergence in the menu. If you cannot adjust it in the menu - then your convergence is broken and needs to be repaired.

Thanks for using FixYa. From what you have described it seems that you have to replace the convergence IC and also check the power resistor, if values are not exact you have to replace them. These ICs are located behind the black heat sink; you can see once you open the back off the TV. Also, the convergence board should be checked for cracked solder joints and please make sure to check the resistors as if they are shot the ICs might blow again. All this is only recommended if you have electrical expertise and know how to solder/re-solder components, if not then you should get this done by a professional. The typical cost to get this fixed by a pro is around $250-$300. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

The 46F500 uses two convergence chips(IC chips) for convergence output.

Most of these sets use a STK-392-110 AND a STK-392-150----not often you see a set with two different number chips used---the 150 is a higher current device than the 110 chip----You need to replace both(a good idea is to replace both with the 150 chip---they last longer)

You will find them (as you look from the back of the set) on the right side on either one large or two separate metal heat sinks---the chips each have 18 pins and are black in color with the STK number printed in white on the face of them(they are about 2 1/2 inches wide x 1 1/2 inches tall).


Usually just both chips need to be replaced and the set adjusted--sometimes there will be a resistor near them discolored or burnt--you need to look for this if you do this repair---You can buy both the chips on Ebay for less than 15 dollars plus shipping.

If you are not able to do this yourself shop around your area---most shops charge 300-400 for this type of repair----I have done hundreds of them here and charge 200-250 and do the repair in the customer's home----if a shop tells you it has to go to the shop keep looking---any good tech can do this repair in your home in about a hour.

I have the same problem. I was able to temorarily fix the issue by taking the back cover off and blowing all of the dust out. But this only worked for two days. Now the problem is back. Did you fix the issue with your tv? Thanks.

Symptom shows it is convergence out chips failure problem that are causing blue and yellow ghosting and bows picture on tv screen.
Replace convergence out chips in tv, problem will be be fixed.

yes there are guns filled with oil 3 of them be careful sometimes you need to clean dirt off it will emprove pic just pull back off and you will see them clean with damp cloth

Yes, replace both of your convergence ICs.

The Convergence IC's have went out. This is normal for this TV after about 5 years or so. You will need 2 sanyo STK392-150 IC chips, and about 6 resistors to fix. The cost is about 50 US dollars if you do it yourself. If you are not good at soldering, don't try it. However if you are, and can read an ohmeter it will be no problem

I believe your TV only has component video and S video inputs Therefore it depends on what the video outputs are on your computer. If you have S video out on your computer's graphics card then you can plug it right in. Sound must be run separately from your audio out jack to the TV. If your computer has an analog RCV video output then that would work too.

Sounds like the TV has lost the VIDEO and only has color. Make sure all the cables are secure and good. 2) Reset the TV by unplugging the TV or any BOX you have attached to TV. Unplug both from a/c for 3-5 minutes, plug back in and turn both on.
If no fix. Go to service Company that is Authorized and get an estimate, possible cost $450.00 +. Too many areas of concern to help you with particulars.
