Canon selphy printer only printed half the picture
No it's not a worn out print head. That is incorrect answer. It will be the plastic pawl broken that pushes down the print head to the ribbon on that side of the paper. Is a very common fault with these little printers after they age somewhat. The plastic deteriorates with time. See this useful video with suggested fix using super glue.....http://youtu.be/n8BjBrQL9rY
Canon selphy cp900 ink cartridge has been replaced and still says 'ink cassette is empty' 'insert new cassette'
There are two motors inside - one turning a program wheel, and the other turning the rest of the mechanics. The first one has small gear that goes out and the mechanics cannot start turning the ribbon inside the cartridge. For Selphy CP910: Remove the cartridge cover, cartridge and the tray cover. Bend a little covers and they will go. Remove 4 small screws at the bottom, open slowly the top part and disconnect the flat cables to the screen and the buttons. Then remove the 3 bigger screws at the bottom, disconnect the fan, tilt the frame in a way you can separate it from the box. Now you can see the motors and the displaced gear of the smaller one. To fix permanently, you have to separate the motors from the frame. Remove 3 screws of the main board, disconnect 3 flat cables and remove the board. Remove 2 screws holding the motors in place. One gear and one spring will fall apart. Slide out the displaced gear from the motor's axle, put some glue (I use Akfix 705 or Soudal 2C) and put it back. There is a hole on the gear where I sprayed the hardener part of the glue to fix it. Put everything back together and the printer will work as new.

Step 1: If the printer disconnects from the system during the firmware update, verify the firmware that you have installed can be the new version. Step 2: Inspect the power connection between the printer and the system. Step 3: If the printer is doing a processing job, wait till the printer finishes it.
