Hi
This error is caused due to faulty thermister however; you can check the fuser unit for any jammed paper around the upper fixing roller and try to clean that area. After this is done try to clear the error by entering the service mode, to enter press Additional functions, #. Then go to #7 Printer and press OK, then go to #4 printer reset and press OK, yes= *. E070

getfile.asp?rid=1258 April 12, 2007 getfile.asp?rid=3215 Product : iR6800
iR6870 Title : E070 Problem :
E070 error code.

Sensor reflectors on the inside of the ITB become dirty and do not reflect the light properly from the home position sensors.

Note* - If the equipment is not properly serviced, in regard to filters, the equipment filters can clog up and cause stray toner to build up in the ventilation area. If this occurs, there is a chance that HVT2 can become contaminated and copy quality issues will occur.

Additionally, soiling the white ITB patch may also occur causing E070 error code.

Solution :
Clean the reflective surface inside the ITB or replace ITB.

In regards to filters - Be sure ALL 6 Filters are replaced and/or cleaned at it's proper intervals. If ALL 6 filters are not addressed, poor ventilation will occur and toner can contaminate HVT2. If contamination of HVT2 happens replace HVT2.

HVT2 = FM2-0528-000

ITB = FC5-1658-000 Canon USA, Inc. Systems & Technical Support Division

Canon iR C6800 prints leading and trailing blank pages

There is an option in the print driver to print a separation page (typically just a blank page unless you specify otherwise) so that each person's print jobs can be differentiated easily.

This option probably got enabled somehow on her PC. Have her go into the print driver's properties (right click on the Canon in the list of printers and select Properties) and look for the option that says separation page or separator page and deselect it. Then click Apply or OK, and it should be good.

Clear copies

you are looking to get clear copies on the irc6800 there is so much that goes into making that copier come out with clear copies and so many things that need to be changed in order to keep it working.. the fixing assembly should be rebuilt like every 200k in order to keep it functioning porperly, the color developers need to checked and cleaned and starter replaced like every 100k color prints, the corona wires need replaced , transfer rollers all 3 of them should be replaced every 100k,

all i can say is that it needs to maintained and kept maintained and it will serve you well.... remember this one thing it was meant to do 90%bw copies and 10% color copies if you do more than that you will experience copy degradation...

i can only tell you this because i worked on them for many years and that model became my specialty.... you can call me if you like and i can answer any questions you have and i may be able to help you clear it up somewhat. email me the total copies and i should be able to tell you what service should be done and when.

Change default to black printing only

here is what you will need to do to get this to work.

first while on the main copy screen change the setting from color to black like you want it.

then you will need to goto the additional functions button and under copy settings you will need scroll down to the second page.

there you will want to hit the standard setting button then click the store button, then click yes... now it will default to black copying.....

now if you want to it to print only in black you will need to go to the printer window in windows....

control panel-----printers----then select irc6800 printer

then right click on the printer icon and goto properties---- then printer perferences---- then you will need to find the color tab and set it to grayscale printing.. then click apply then ok and exit out.... now hopefully this will set your print driver to default to black and white.

sorry i don't have the drivers loaded on my computer for me to look at to tell you exactly how to change it

Color calibration

now you can do a full auto gradation under the additional functions button. just follow the instructions as you run it they are self explantory.

though my experience from working on them it is never that simple. there is so much involoved on the inside of this machine that will wear the toner starter out, the developers go bad, cleaning blades and several other factors all effect the color of this particular machine.

so start with the auto gradation and if that doesn't help then i would suggest getting a tech familure with that machine to come and fix it for you.
